SCC is seeking a full-time Library Specialist.
POSITION SUMMARY
To support the library's mission to engage students in learning, link people to resources, and give exceptional service to all, a Library Specialist at St. Charles Community College is expected to offer excellent customer service in providing reference services and maintaining essential cataloging services, ensuring our print and digital collections remain well-organized and accessible.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
A bachelor's degree or related library experience is required. Knowledge of AACR2, MARC21, and LC classification and subject headings is essential. A strong public service commitment and ability to work in a highly collaborative , culturally diverse environment is required.
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE
Experience with automated library systems such as FOLIO or Sierra. Relevant full-time experience supporting reference assistance, including assisting patrons with research in a discovery environment.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Performs copy and original cataloging according to Anglo-American Cataloging Rules (AACR2rev), OCLC, Library of Congress Subject Headings (LCSH), and Library of Congress (LC) Classification standards using the integrated library system (ILS) and OCLC.
- Maintains bibliographic and item records in the local and state catalog and makes changes as required.
- Collects and reports statistical information about the materials collection.
- Assists and advises the Director of Library and Librarians on cataloging, ILS maintenance, and collection maintenance matters.
- Performs reference desk duties and is expected to work at least one night a week. Performs circulation desk duties if needed.
