About the Role

The Company is seeking a Dean of the University Library to provide executive leadership in support of the institution's teaching and research mission. The successful candidate will be responsible for the strategic vision, management of personnel, budget, facilities, technology, and resources, and ensuring that library collections meet the scholarly and learning needs of the university community. This role involves leading and supporting scholarly initiatives, directing continual improvement and innovation in services, and representing the library in various programs. The Dean will also be expected to have a strong commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion, and to foster a work environment that is ethical, collegial, and inclusive. Applicants for the Dean of the University Library position at the company must have at least a Master's degree in Library and/or Information Science from an accredited program, with a preference for a doctorate. A minimum of 5 years' substantive experience in library administration or management is required, along with a proven track record of scholarly and professional achievement. The ideal candidate will have the ability to collaborate effectively, excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and a deep understanding of the challenges and opportunities facing university libraries. Experience in fundraising, conflict resolution, and a background in a collective bargaining and shared governance setting are also preferred. The Dean will be expected to lead strategic initiatives related to academic technology and scholarly communication, and to ensure the library's digital presence is maintained and improved.
