Duties/Responsibilities: Knowledge of cataloging new books, book repair, library automation systems. Familiar with and able to follow all policies that pertain to the ethical use of information in the library media center including copyright and confidentiality of patron records. Ability to work with elementary parent volunteers working with student accounts. Coordinate use of the middle school media center for staff and students. Computer knowledge to provide assistance to students using library computers. Ability to lift, distribute, collect and maintain records of textbooks. Organize book fairs at the middle school as needed. Must be flexible in your work schedule; able to go from one building to the next as needed to provide student accessibility to staff and resources at point of need. Work directly with the counseling department to mentor students in non-traditional classes. Monitor during lunches and before school in the media center. Maintain accurate records of technology that is checked in and out of the media center. Open and close the media center on a daily basis and set up for events and meetings. Oversee the Middle School media center and its operation while working with and meeting the teachers' needs, counseling needs, and the needs of the building principal. All other responsibilities as assigned by the building principal.
Qualifications: Minimum associates degree or 2 years of college (equal to 60 semester hours) or successful completion of the MTTC Basic Skills or WorkKeys or ETS Parapro Assessment Must be able to collaborate with staff and students to meet their needs for instruction and resources. Ability to assist media specialists as needed for smooth library operation. Show evidence of good health. Self-directed individual. Strong verbal/language and mathematics skills. Ability to lift 50+ pounds of weight. Rate of Pay: Per MESPA Contract
