QUALIFICATIONS
* High School Diploma or equivalent * An Associate's Degree, or 60 college credits, or State/Local ParaPro Assessment test required * Previous experience working with youth preferred * Knowledge, skill or experience in library management systems, online databases, digital resources and educational technology tools commonly used in a school library setting, or a willingness to learn * Knowledge, skill or experience in STEAM related learning and activities , or a willingness to learn. * Knowledge, skill and or experience in the implementation of Positive Behavior Intervention Supports (PBIS) strategies or be willing to receive training in those strategies * Ability to obtain a valid Arizona IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
* Understanding of STEAM subjects and applications, including familiarity with relevant curriculum standards and educational resources. * Knowledge of library cataloging systems (such as Dewey Decimal or Library of Congress) and classification methods to accurately catalog and shelve library materials. * Knowledge of library management systems, online databases, digital resources, and educational technology tools commonly used in a school library setting. * Knowledge of safety protocols and procedures when using STEAM equipment and materials. * Strong organizational skills. * Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing * Ability to follow written and/or verbal instructions. * Ability to demonstrate strong interpersonal, multitasking, and problem-solving skills in a fast-paced environment. * Empathy, patience, and a genuine passion for working with students. * Ability to maintain accurate records and reports, monitor students, and work with and secure the cooperation of students. * Ability to operate computer equipment for email communications, word processing, data management, and other assigned tasks as related to the position. * Ability to apply common sense understanding to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of situations. * Ability to work cooperatively and courteously with staff, students, parents, and community members. * Utilize, with fidelity, the District Positive Behavior Intervention Support (PBIS) program at the building level. * Ability to understand and maintain students' and parents' rights to confidentiality and not violate those rights; nor discuss students in inappropriate places or with anyone not in direct contact with such individual students. * Ensure information obtained through the course of duties associated with this position, is held in the highest of confidentiality. * Perform all duties in accordance with Federal and State laws, district procedures, and Board policies, including mandatory reporting procedures.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Aligned with the district's mission to reduce dropout rates and support student achievement, Media Center/STEAM Paraprofessionals inspire student curiosity, critical thinking, problem-solving, and creativity in science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics. They do so in an inclusive atmosphere where every student feels valued and empowered to succeed. This is achieved through the following duties and responsibilities:
* Assist teachers in fostering creativity and innovation in students through a variety of STEAM activities, lessons, open-ended STEAM challenges, personalized support, hands-on activities, and project-based learning experiences. * Support teachers in fostering a dynamic and supportive learning environment by engaging, motivating, and connecting with students and providing targeted interventions to address student achievement and dropout rates. * Prepare materials, set up equipment, and provide one-on-one or small group support to students. * Assist teachers in implementing STEAM activities using various STEAM-related tools and technologies, such as coding platforms, robotics kits, 3D printers, and other maker space equipment. * Manage STEAM materials, resources, and schedules. * Assist with various media center/library-related activities, services, and operations, such as organizing events, facilitating programs, or supporting technology initiatives to guide students to develop a love for reading. * Collaborate with teachers and other educational staff to support integrated STEAM learning and library resources into student learning and activities across different subject areas. * Organize library and STEAM materials efficiently and assist student in navigating resources, including books, multimedia resources, and educational materials, to ensure easy access for students and staff. * Support and contribute to an inclusive atmosphere where every student feels valued and empowered to succeed. * Maintain library cataloging systems (such as Dewey Decimal or Library of Congress) to accurately catalog and shelve library materials. * Assist and guide students in researching and evaluating literacy resources and learning ethical use of information. * Offer tailored interventions for students so no student falls behind. * Manage circulation, process new materials, and maintain records. * Address common library equipment issues, inquiries, and logistical challenges. * Participate in continuous learning and professional development to stay updated on emerging trends, tools, and best practices in STEAM education.

The employee will read correspondence and computer screens, and use the telephone.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
Indoor classroom and school building environment, and outdoor environments, in all types of weather. The noise level in the work environment is generally moderate and may become excessively noisy at times. Will have contact with students, staff, and the public.
ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS
The Paraprofessional reports to the Principal or Site Administrator. The Paraprofessional will interact cooperatively with all other staff positions. All elements of good human relations will be practiced.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT
INITIAL WAGE PLACEMENT PLAN: Starting at $15.35 Per Hour
WORK YEAR: 10 Months / 7 hours per day
