The University of Michigan Law School is seeking a dedicated and skilled Media Consultant to join our LAW IT team. The successful candidate will provide support for classes and events. You will maintain, install and support a variety of instructional technology and audio-visual equipment. You will process and respond to calls, emails or tickets for audio-visual technical support. You will report to the IT Operations Manager onsite at the UM Ann Arbor Central Campus. This position may include some evening and weekend work. Schedules may be adjusted to accommodate this work. This position is 100% onsite in Ann Arbor located on the UM Ann Arbor Central Campus. Responsibilities Operational and Classroom Support (50%): Assist faculty and other clients with using audio/visual and computer technology. Deliver high-quality customer service, assisting with audio/visual and computer technology in classrooms/conference rooms. Conduct training sessions for faculty, staff, and students on using the Michigan Law classroom facilities, equipment, and new instructional technologies. Respond to customer service emails/tickets/help calls, manage event requests and provide support for Law AV operations as required. Manage the setup, configuration, and calibration of AV equipment and computer technology to support seamless classroom experiences. Coordinate and perform regular classroom equipment and supplies checks to ensure operational readiness. Technology Implementation and Maintenance (30%): Submit and update equipment issues with our issue tracking system (TDX). Troubleshoot and resolve reported technical issues, ensuring timely follow-up on problems related to equipment. Perform regular hardware maintenance, including cleaning, testing, and repairing equipment to prevent failures and extend equipment lifespan. Coordinate with vendors and service providers for hardware repairs and replacements when necessary. Document and track hardware inventory, ensuring all equipment is accounted for and properly maintained. With help from the IT Operations Manager, implement new technology solutions, from planning and procurement to installation and user training. Order new AV related equipment through the University ordering system. Perform adjustments to system programming. Class/Event Administration and Consulting (10%): Approve schedule work requests through the Law Room Scheduling system. Consult on site with event contacts, make site visits as needed to map out areas for equipment placement, set up protocols for standardizing media and schedule rehearsals. Answer email and service request submissions. Zoom phone processing. Knowledgeable of the Lecture Capture interface and its functionality within Canvas in order to resolve common issues and assist customers with moderate challenges. Introduce customers to technology use they may not have considered that provide exciting options that work well with their teaching style. Generate and distribute user-friendly documentation for Michigan Law customers and partner units as needed. Team Collaboration and Communication (10%): Actively participate in team collaborations to discuss projects and technologies, fostering a collaborative work environment. Minimum Requirements: At least two years experience operating complex audio-visual and computer-based technologies. Proven experience in the installation, maintenance, and/or support of audio-visual equipment. Exceptional customer service skills and the ability to communicate effectively with diverse groups of people. AVIXA certification. Experience with Poly-brand Zoom Room equipment. Proficiency in computer hardware and software relevant to AV systems. Experience using issue tracking and asset management software like TeamDynamix. Ability to comprehend mechanical components, schematics, and cabling. Job openings are posted for a minimum of seven calendar days.
