This position is an on-campus, full-time, exempt 12-month administrative appointment with an annual salary of $82,817.66.

The Director of Marketing and Public
Relations is responsible for managing the college's brand/image, developing and
implementing an integrated marketing and communications strategy, and serving as
a media liaison for the college. The Director, under the supervision of the
Vice-President for Strategic Partnerships and Workforce Innovation/Chief
Communications Officer, is responsible for all aspects of marketing and
communicating on behalf of Parkland College, including public relations, advertising,
strategic communications, and strategic planning.
The Director of Marketing and Public Relations
is an appointment based on a
schedule established by the Vice-President for Strategic Partnerships and
Workforce Innovation/Chief Communications Officer. Working hours may include evenings, holidays,
or weekends depending on deadline requirements and special events. Work
contacts include administrators, faculty, staff, community-based organizations,
and general public.

Resume or CV 3-5 samples of work from past marketing campaigns, press, releases, or other written materials that demonstrate experience in marketing and public relations. Essential Job Functions: Develop and manage college branding strategy and marketing plan. Develop and execute a comprehensive marketing and communications strategy in collaboration with Enrollment Management Team, and other units within the college. Direct promotion, advertising, marketing, public relations, and marketing-related materials (online and print) for all areas of the college. Attend monthly Board of Trustees meetings; advise the administration and board on marketing goals and initiatives as needed. Participate in the development and update of the college website. Manage and monitor the department's budget. Supervise marketing, print shop, and mailroom staff. Manage vendors/consultants on specific projects. Serve on the Enrollment Management Team, Crisis Communication Team, Web Governance, and other college committees as needed. Work closely with the president and vice presidents on all activities and events necessary to maintain a positive public image for the college. Act as a media liaison for the college. Other duties as assigned. Minimum Requirements: Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Public Relations, Communications, or related field. Two (2) years of supervisory/management. Five (5) years of demonstrated success as a marketing and public relations professional. Experience in strategic planning and research, outcomes assessment, and effective use of emerging/social media in public relations and marketing. Must successfully pass a criminal background check with fingerprinting. Excellent communication skills including listening effectively and responding accordingly and experience speaking in from of small and large groups. Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines. Communication and consensus-building skills as well as the ability to develop working relationships with internal and external groups. Valid driver's license and insurability to drive for the college. In an effort to comply with SURS return-to-work restrictions for employers (40 ILCS 5/15-139.5), candidates for employment at Parkland College must either not be a SURS annuitant or must be willing to suspend his/her SURS annuity upon employment. This applies to all SURS annuitants except those receiving their annuity under either the Self-Managed Plan (SMP) or by lump sum payment.
