Broadcast Operations Technician

WLWT, the NBC affiliate in Cincinnati, is looking for a Broadcast Operator/Operations Engineer who will oversee the equipment that provides the content of our broadcast on-air program streams. You will monitor multiple air channels, preparing content, building playlists, maintaining regulatory compliance, assuring quality control of on-air product, and documenting transmission events. You will ingest commercials and programs, timing them and making sure they all play on air properly. 

Responsibilities

  • Operate master control equipment including switchers, automation systems, video servers, EAS devices, graphics systems, and monitoring devices.
  • Complete daily FCC and station requirements.
  • Work closely with IT and maintenance engineering teams to support critical on-air systems.
  • Operate studio equipment such as robotic camera system, audio equipment including audio board, production switchers, graphics systems, and video servers.
  • Provide support for producing content and executing station projects.
  • Edit content using Adobe products as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned by engineering management.

Requirements

  • Experience operating master control and performing air operations duties using automation including monitoring broadcast signals and video streams at a commercial television station or broadcast operations center.
  • Experience operating production control equipment at a commercial television station or related entity.
  • Knowledge of broadcast television operations. 
  • Intermediate experience with computers and PC-based systems.
  • Ability to perform with accuracy while under pressure. 
  • Ability to multi-task accurately and maintain focus.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and resolve issues independently with aptitude to escalate appropriately.
  • Ability to follow instructions, verbal and written.
  • Flexibility to work various days and shifts as assigned including holidays and weekends. 
  • Ability to work effectively with other team members. 
  • Related military experience will be considered.
  • In-person attendance is required.
