Job Title:
Associate Designer Carve Designs is a rapidly growing women’s surf-inspired swimwear and apparel brand based in Sausalito, California. Carve Designs is a fast-paced dynamic environment. Overview: •
The position requires an excellent taste level, strong attention to detail, excellent organizational skills, adaptability to a fast-paced environment, and the flexibility to work autonomously and in collaboration with team members in Development, Tech Design, Print, and Production. •
The ideal candidate is creative and hardworking, knowledgeable of fabrics, trims, garment sewing, and construction. •
Proficiency in fashion illustration, Photoshop, Illustrator, and Microsoft Office products is required. •
Minimum 3-year design school or equivalent experience working in the industry, plus 2-4+ years in Fashion Design.
Primary Responsibilities:
Concepting and Design: •
Work closely with the design team to bring the collection from concept to reality, including but not limited to, conceptual presentations, sketch review, design, and guidance through fabric development. •
Contribute to seasonal concept research as well as competitive market research. •
Assist with sketching into design concepts synthesizing design direction from VP of Design & Merch and Senior Designer.
Print and Color: •
Contribute concepts to color palette creation. •
Help color and update prints as needed. •
Responsible for ordering Pantones in a timely manner and distributing to vendors. •
Create and maintain lab dip logs. •
Assist with lab dip and strike off comments with oversight of Designer. •
Assist Designer with creation and maintenance of all artwork mill sheets.
Tech Packs and PLM: •
Clearly communicate silhouettes and detailed garment construction through sketches, and callouts with feedback and update as needed through all sample stages. •
Pro-actively coordinate with team members from Design, Product Development, and Fabric departments to make sure all information is current and correct through development, SMS, and production handover stages. •
Collaborate with Designer and PD to fill BOMS, add color CADS, and color numbers to tech packs •
Maintain sketch and construction updates in PLM, internal merch sheets, and fit guides.
Additional Responsibilities may include: •
CAD color-ups •
Receive and send out packages. •
General studio organization, including sample room and design areas. •
Maintain in-house libraries such as Pantones, fabrics, trims, and comp samples. •
Assist with reviewing and organizing TOPS •
Attend weekly review meetings, making notes, and expediting follow-up on any tasks identified during the meeting. i.e. fit meeting, style outs, and proto reviews. •
Assist with filling in line plan details for wholesale catalog & online copy •
Create & maintain sample discrepancy list for photo shoots & sales meeting •
Assist PD in bulk fabric & trim approvals to ensure post-SMS comments are followed •
Must be able to help at sample sales, around office and must be able to lift 60lbs.
