Job SummaryThe Library Systems Department at BBC Hubert Library has an opportunity for a student to join their team of professionals . This position will assist users in production and post-production work in the innovative 360-degree projection theater and 3-D sound system .
- The student will work with Adobe Premiere, Adobe After-Effects and other software to develop and assist in the development of immersive and augmented reality productions
- The position also will assist staff with basic computer and server trouble-shooting needs, software and hardware installs, and other computer systems maintenance
- Areas of Study or Interest: Audio-visual production, augmented and virtual reality; Journalism or Communication Arts; Or IT, Computer Science
- Essential responsibilities and duties may include, but are not limited to the following:
- Responsible for organizing, archiving and running content for the i360 Extended Reality theater and production studio
- Responsible for trouble-shooting systems and filing reports and maintenance tickets
- Responsible for testing and innovating new uses for the facility
- Responsible for desktop support for computer labs areas, staff, laptops, and classrooms
- Checks for any problems or issues related to the equipment installed in the classrooms, offices and computer labs
- Provides preventive maintenance to equipment (maintains and cleans computer equipment (monitors, CPU's keyboard etc), VR Headsets, 360 Camera's, Audio Devices)
- Provides basic software and hardware maintenance, hardware and software installations and upgrades
- Cable management, hardware inventory, IT office organization, event setup, etc
- This internship opportunity will have an employee supervisor guiding and mentoring student throughout the experience
- Student and Supervisor must review learning goals and objectives and participate in a formal meeting at the midpoint and end of the semester to discuss and complete Student Evaluation and Employer Evaluation
- By the end of the internship, student will have gained valuable practical experience, learned how to apply theoretical knowledge in practical settings, and experienced real life challenges and situations

- Knowledge of PC operations and software
- Ability to work well in a team environment
- Students enrolled at FIU, who have been awarded Federal Work Study (FWS) as part of their Financial Aid Award package.
- Student must be enrolled with a minimum of six (6) credit hours in a course of study leading to a degree or a Financial Aid eligible certificate, during Fall, Spring, and Summer semesters.
- Upon credits decreasing, award being canceled, or graduating, FWS employment must end.
Work Schedule
Hours will vary based on class schedule and needs of department.
