Over the past 223 years, The Post has evolved into a multi-platform media company spanning print, digital, video, audio, app, television and commerce.
The New York Post is seeking a full-time Reporter (Tues-Sat) who can thrive in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
NOTE: The shift for this position is Tues-Sat, 7am-3pm.
The Reporter will take the lead on major news stories, no matter the topic, and ensure The Post has the crucial elements covered while working to break our own lines. They will be at the forefront of delivering timely and accurate information to our audience. This role is pivotal in keeping our readers informed, engaged, and up-to-date on unfolding events.
Responsibilities: Write and report multiple stories per day in a fast-paced breaking news environment Pitch viral and trending news stories to be written in The Post's signature snappy style Move swiftly in breaking news situations, filing real-time updates while closely monitoring the competition to keep our story fresh Collaborate with colleagues on originally reported news stories across all areas of coverage, including but not limited to local crime, local politics, court cases, human interest, national stories Vet story assignments and facts before publishing The ideal candidate will have/be:
At least 2-3 years of experience working in a competitive newsroom, preferably at a digital publication Excellent writing skills and strong reporting chops Solid news judgment and a sharp eye for storylines that are about to go viral Strong news gathering skills and experience with social media platforms in order to quickly confirm information during live news events A voracious appetite for news and current events The desire to tell captivating stories in a fast-paced environment Ability to work flexible hours Multilingual is a plus

Salary Range: $60,000 - $72,000
