Designer, Print & Pattern - West Elm

About the Role
As a Print & Pattern Designer, you will create and develop original artwork to be used across seasonal print and pattern collections for the West Elm brand. Reporting into the Head Design Manager, this role is an opportunity to provide a distinctive and innovative point of view on original print and pattern for the West Elm brand that reflects market trends and meets customer needs.
Responsibilities:
* Translate seasonal concept direction into cohesive and innovative print collections
* Build out relevant print and pattern stories from brand concept for all textile categories: rugs, bedding, pillows, throws, bath, upholstery, window, and table linens.
* Clean, color separate and create colorway options.
* Present seasonal print collections to category designers
* Work proactively according to development calendar to stay ahead of timelines
* Maintain print and pattern archives both digitally and physically
* Regularly shop competitors to keep abreast of trends. Travel Europe/Asia to identify emerging themes and new inspirations with Design Director & VP.
Criteria:
* Bachelor's Degree in Textile Design, or related field
* Minimum 5-7 years of textile design work experience, preferably in-home furnishings
* Must be expert level in Adobe Creative Suite
* Must be skilled at hand drawing, painting and designing original artwork
* Experience developing product directly with factories is a plus; understanding of product development from concept through commercialization
* Knowledge of textiles, fabrications, printing and manufacturing techniques
* Highly developed taste level and sense of color
* Ability to work independently as well as with a team in a fast-paced environment
* Ability to prioritize, multi-task and adapt to change
* Extremely organized and detail-oriented - excellent calendar adherence and ownership
* Excellent time management skills
* Understanding and enthusiasm for West Elm brand
* A positive, can-do attitude and team-oriented mindset is critical

The expected starting pay range for this position is $85,000 - $95,000. Applicable pay ranges may differ across markets. Actual pay will be determined based on experience and other job-related factors permitted by law. In addition to competitive pay, compensation may include a variety of other components like benefits, paid time off, merit, and bonus opportunities.
