Assistant Designer - Textiles - West ElmAbout the RoleAs an Assistant Designer, you will support the design and development process from concept through to production. Under the leadership of senior team members, you will collaborate closely with designers, merchandising and product development teams on the execution of textile product.ResponsibilitiesAssist in the development of designs from initial concept through approvalCreate presentation decks and visual line listsComplete product specifications, tech packs and CADsSupport the development process through daily communication with the sourcing department, vendors and agentsComment on product samplesIssue product approvalsCoordinate sample and product presentations, and organize samplesConsistently research textile and home decor industry trends to feed design inspiration and new collection developmentWork proactively according to development calendar to stay ahead of timelines

CriteriaMUST provide Portfolio link (including password) on resume - or link to PDF work samples with applicationDegree in Design or related experienceMinimum 1-2 years of design work in textiles or equivalent experienceMust be expert level in Adobe Creative SuiteAbility for strategic thinking and understanding of white space in marketplaceAbility to work independently as well as with a team in a fast-paced environmentAbility to prioritize, multi-task and adapt to changeExtremely organized, efficient and detail-oriented - excellent calendar adherence and ownershipExcellent time management and communication skillsExcellent cross functional skills and partnership with merchandisers and product development teamUnderstanding and enthusiasm for the West Elm brandThis role requires being onsite in the New York office

Applicable pay ranges may differ across markets. Actual pay will be determined based on experience and other job-related factors permitted by law.
