The team is divided into several key areas: including practice M&BD, clients and sectors, pitches and pursuits, which manage strategic global and regional pitches; corporate communications, which comprises public relations, brand, design, events, and digital; and campaigns and projects.
Our world-renowned Life Sciences and Health Care Sector comprises more than 500 lawyers around the world who advise more than 1,000 clients spanning pharmaceuticals and biotechnology, medical devices and technology, digital health, as well as health care providers, payors, and services.

Senior Marketing & Business Development Manager
to lead the firm's
Life Sciences and Health Care sector and related regulatory practices.
This essential position, based in our Washington, D.C. office and reporting in to the
Director of Marketing and Business Development - Clients & Sectors , will be the global M&BD lead for the Life Sciences and Health Care sector and the Pharmaceuticals & Biotechnology, Medical Devices & Technology, and Health regulatory practices. This individual will work closely with the global and local M&BD teams, along with the global Sector Heads, leadership team, and Practice Area Leads to develop and execute a comprehensive marketing and business development strategy that drives client engagement, strengthens market positioning, and supports the long-term growth of both the sector and its closely aligned practices.
This is a hands-on role that will involve ensuring a coordinated, structured approach to marketing campaigns and profile raising, client development, pitching, and knowledge development across the global sector and relevant practice areas. The successful candidate will have the ability to see the bigger picture and proactively connect the dots across the global sector, relevant practices and client initiatives. The ability to develop a deep understanding of the sector and to thrive in a fast-paced, high-performance environment, and to collaborate and communicate well with partners, lawyers and colleagues alike in a manner that builds trust and confidence is also paramount.
JOB DESCRIPTION
LEADERSHIP
Collaborate with sector leadership, M&BD team, and others to design and execute a global strategy that aligns with firm objectives and strengthens market position in the Life Sciences and Health Care sector. Act as the M&BD expert for the Life Sciences and Health Care team. Manage four direct reports and lead a global team of indirect reports, providing guidance, training, and professional development. PROFILE RAISING & MARKETING CAMPAIGNS
Lead efforts to enhance the firm's profile through targeted campaigns, thought leadership, events, and sponsorships. Conceptualize and support client seminars, webinars, and other marketing events, managing materials, day-of logistics, and follow-up reporting. Oversee directory submissions for relevant rankings and publications. Foster relationships with industry associations, leveraging sponsorships to drive client engagement. Collaborate with the PR team to implement profile-raising strategies for the sector and individual partners. Ensure effective internal reporting and communication of M&BD activities, supporting management reporting. PITCHING, TARGETING & NEW BUSINESS GENERATION
Lead pitch strategy for Life Sciences and Health Care, aligning with the sales transformation plan and global pitch coordination. Develop and manage responses to RFPs, pitches, and proposals tailored to client needs. BUSINESS & CLIENT DEVELOPMENT
Support client targeting initiatives, advising on new business opportunities and strategic development. Ensure adoption of client relationship management best practices across the sector. Utilize firm technologies to track client engagement and manage relationships. WIDER M&BD PROJECTS
Contribute to broader M&BD projects, including Clients & Sectors and Global Regulatory & IP practices. Share best practices and processes across the global sector team. Participate in the Responsible Business program. QUALIFICATIONS
Eight (8) + years of relevant experience in a legal or professional services industry, with at least two years in an M&BD management position. Established knowledge and experience of the life sciences and health care industry preferred. Bachelor's degree preferred, and post-graduate qualifications (e.g., MBA) advantageous. Excellent level of strategic and commercial awareness, with proactive mindset to help our lawyers spot and capitalize on opportunities. Pragmatic, diplomatic, and resourceful, with the ability to adapt quickly to different situations and personalities. Proven ability to motivate and coach business services team to support the firm's M&BD goals. Demonstrated ability to think and act strategically and proactively. Ability to communicate effectively with tact and diplomacy, excellent writing skills, and an exacting attention to detail in all work products. Strong organizational skills and an ability to prioritize and complete simultaneous projects with minimal supervision. Experience of working independently as well as within cross-functional teams in a collaborative, professional environment. Ability to meet deadlines and work well under pressure.
HOURS
Core hours are Monday through Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., including lunch hour, with flexibility for additional hours may be needed based on business requirements.
In Washington, DC, the annualized salary range for this position is $181,200 to $226,400 depending on the candidate's overall experience and other job-related factors permitted by law. Full time employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus. In addition, full time employees as well as some part time employees, will be eligible for the firm's fringe benefits as they currently exist.
