The Minot Hot Tots & Honeybees are offering an internship opportunity for a current college student with an interest in sports broadcasting to gain experience and knowledge in Public Address and game presentation. Hot Tot & Honeybee internships provide students with immersive, hands-on-learning to help position them for a career in the sports, entertainment and event industry upon graduation.

Who We Are

The Minot Hot Tots began play in 2023. After a successful first two seasons, the Hot Tots are excited to continue to build on that success. The Hot Tots were the first team to sellout Corbett field since the 90s and hosted 11 sold out games in 2024.

The Northwoods League (NWL) is the largest organized baseball league in the world with 25 teams, drawing more fans than any league of its kind. The NWL provides top college players from North America and beyond a summer collegiate baseball experience. More than 300 Northwoods League players have advanced to Major League Baseball in the NWL's 30-year history.

In 2024, the Minot Honeybees, part of a first of its kind NWL summer collegiate softball league began play. The Honeybees were one of four inaugural teams to play at Corbett Field in 2024. All internships will have the unique opportunity to work with the Hot Tots and the Minot Honeybees softball team.

The Internship Position

As the Public Announcer intern you will be responsible for providing in-game entertainment and sponsor messaging during all Minot Hot Tot and Honeybees home games.

The Public Announcer intern will also support our marketing, media and sponsorship teams by assisting with storytelling and marketing elements including but not limited to: videos, team stories, social media pieces, graphics, press releases, etc. You'll work closely with the marketing and media departments and other internal teams to showcase the Minot Hot Tot's mission of using FUN to make a difference in our community and state.The TV Broadcast intern will serve as Hot Tot representative at various promotions, events, Hot Tot games.

This position will not travel to road games.

End Date: August 17, 2025

Academic Qualifications: Applicants should be studying a subject in a relevant field. This may include but is not limited to Sport Management, Broadcasting, Journalism, Marketing and Communications.

Roles and Responsibilities
  • Announce all home games, including pre-game shows during the regular season (and playoffs if necessary)
  • Responsible for writing game day script and sponsorship promotion announcements
  • Responsible for calling all the action of each game, describing in detail the action of a highly competitive, summer collegiate baseball championship season
  • Assist in the setup, teardown, and maintenance of the press box.
  • Assist with writing promotional pieces for digital platforms and team program
  • Assist with creating in game entertainment and between inning activities
  • Represent the team at various team events and participate in other outside, community events and mascot appearances, as defined by the team
  • Promote a positive fan experience by interacting with our fans in all areas of the ballpark
  • This position will not travel to road games. During NWL Minot Softball, this position will gather content via videography and photography.

General Team Responsibilities
  • Game and Team Event Availability: Expected to be available for all Minot Hot Tot & Minot Honeybees Home Games. home games and team events, this includes weekends and holidays. The Hot Tots will host 36 home games, while Minot Honeybees will Host 20 home games.
  • Outside Event Availability: Expected to be available for select outside events including but not limited to company picnics, festivals, etc. Full event list will be provided. This includes weekends and holidays.
  • Game Day and Event Hours: Expected to be available from mid to late morning through the end of the game and/or event. Schedule will be decided by the direct supervisor on a homestand and event basis.
  • Non-Game Day/Event Hours: Expected to attend office hours of 9 AM-5 PM each weekday.
  • Assist with distribution of team pocket schedules, posters and other marketing materials throughout the stadium and community.
  • Assist with ballpark set-up and tear-down before-the-season, after-the-season and during each homestand
  • Assist with ballpark clean-up after every home game this includes but is not limited to trash, bathrooms, etc.
  • Assist with event set-up and tear-down at team events and outside events
  • Assist with Family Fun zone set-up and tear-down
  • Maintain ballpark cleanliness including but not limited to: cleaning tables, chairs, Family Fun Zone area, etc.
  • Every intern will be required to perform as the mascot at least once during the summer
  • All other duties as assigned by front office staff

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Availability to work all home games, team events and outside events
  • Play-by-play experience required
  • Previous internship or job in live sports broadcasting preferred
  • Experience using Adobe Premiere
  • Experience posting to social media including Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, TikTok and LinkedIn
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Must be a team player with strong leadership and communication skills
  • Must be enthusiastic with a desire to work hard and have a positive "can-do" attitude
  • Ability to multi-task and handle responsibility
  • Self- motivated and ability to take initiative
  • Enthusiastic team player, shows enjoyment and interest in working collaboratively
  • The ability to work extended hours upwards of 14 hours and lift 30-50 lbs

Reports To: Director of Sponsorship Activation

Stipend: $500 monthly stipend

Housing: Housing available upon request. Intern will be responsible for utilities.

Credit: College credit towards a major, minor or general elective may be earned.
