Role Description
The Designer will play a key role in supporting the design and production process throughout all project phases. Working closely with the Senior Designer and Job Captain, you will help create visual presentations and communicate design objectives using various methods of representation. Additionally, you will assist with project management tasks such as client meetings, contractor coordination, and ensuring that all project deliverables meet contractual requirements. Collaboration with internal team members, clients, and external consultants is essential. This position may require travel for site visits and client meetings.
Responsibilities & Core Competencies
Design Support: Assist project staff in ensuring that all deliverables are completed to a high standard of quality and on time.
Documentation Preparation:
- Create and coordinate design documentation, including 2D and 3D renderings for design decks.
- Prepare contract documents such as design diagrams, plans, elevations, 3D models, and construction details.
- Manage project files and help organize the internal project team.
Internal Presentations: Collaborate on design progress and contract documents with the project team, under the direction of the project manager.
Construction Administration: Perform site visits, review control samples, and process submittal and RFI documentation. Coordinate with consultants and manufacturers during construction.
Design Coordination: Act as a liaison between consultants, ensuring design consistency and alignment across teams.
Project Organization: Oversee project filing and folder organization.
Leadership: Supervise and mentor Junior Designers and Interns, supporting their professional growth.
Qualifications & Required Skills
Experience: 2+ years of experience in design in architecture. Experience in hospitality or multifamily industry is preferred.
Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Architecture from an accredited institution.
Technical Skills: Proficiency in Revit, AutoCAD, Adobe Creative Suite, Bluebeam, and MS Office.
Knowledge: Understanding of hospitality design and operations fundamentals, with ambition to learn more about the industry.
Design Skills: Strong design, presentation, and organizational abilities, with the capacity to manage multiple projects in different phases.
Communication: Refined verbal and written communication skills, comfortable engaging with clients, consultants, vendors, and internal staff.
Collaboration: Positive, self-motivated, and flexible, with a strong interest in contributing to studio growth and continuing education.
