The mission of Gabriella Charter Schools is to join academic rigor with the creativity of dance to engage the hearts and minds of young people in underserved communities, empowering them to excel both inside and outside the classroom. Gabriella Charter Schools is composed of two high-performing, dance-themed charter schools in the Los Angeles community. GCS 1 serves grades TK-8 and is located in the community of Echo Park. GCS 2 serves grades TK-8 and is located in the community of Historic South Central.

Job Summary

The Costume Design Teacher is an instructional teammate who helps each student grow to meet his or her full potential as an artist. Working in collaboration with the school's arts teaching team as well as classroom teachers, RSP teachers, and school administrators, the Costume Design Teacher will plan instruction, teach, motivate, inspire, and assess students in fabric, fashion and costume design and will support the needs of our performing arts school by collaborating with the team producing performances, including the end of the year recital. The Costume Design Teacher also helps build students' confidence in displaying their work to an audience, helps enhance students' creativity and collaboration with peers, and helps students build connections between costuming with dance and other aspects of learning both inside and outside of the school.
