Welcome to the Santa Maria-Bonita School District website. We are the largest school district in Santa Barbara County with about 17,500 pre-Kindergarten through 8th grade students. Job Summary
BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF POSITION
Under the direction of the Coordinator of Teaching and Learning, Supplemental, the Elementary VAPA
Specialist provides specialized expertise in Visual Arts through the use of the Visual and Performing Arts
(VAPA) Content Standards and Framework for California Public Schools. Supports sequential
standards-based Visual Arts instruction for students. Creates a flexible elementary grade program and a class
environment favorable to learning and personal growth. Establishes effective rapport with students to
motivate them to develop skills, attitudes, and knowledge needed to provide a good foundation for further
participation in the total school program, in accordance with each student's ability and to meet the VAPA
Content Standards for California in Visual Arts. Establishes good relationships with parents and other staff
members.
Requirements / Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education And Experience:
? Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university including all courses needed to meet
credential requirements.
? Successful experience teaching in grades TK-8 is preferred.
? Bilingual/Multilingual is preferred.

1. Credential:
? Multiple Subject K-8 Teaching Credential
With supplemental credential in Visual Arts
OR
? Multiple Subject K-8 Teaching Credential
With verified years of experience in Visual Arts
OR
? Single Subject Visual Arts Credential
AND
? CLAD or BCLAD or equivalent
? "No Child Left Behind" compliant
2. Valid California driver's license
