HOURS OF WORK: Tuesday, 9:15 AM to 2:15 PM; Wednesday, 9:15 AM- 1:15 PM; Friday 2:15 PM to 6:15 PM; Saturday 1:15 PM to 6:15 PM

Example of Duties
Using the library's online system, perform customer service tasks including the charging, discharging, and renewing of library materials, registering patrons for library cards and placing requests for materials. Provide public assistance with library1s technologies, including: computers, copiers, printers, and other devices. Cash management duties include accepting fines and fees, and operating a cash register and credit card terminal. Assist with library programs and events. Provide staff support during meal periods, and provide substitute staff coverage during staff absences. Perform all duties of Library Clerk. Assist librarians in conducting library programs and activities. Perform basic repair to library materials. Read and initiate work-related communication through email, online chat etc. Provide excellent service to internal and external customers
Minimum Qualifications / Substitutions / Preferences
High school diploma, GED, or equivalent and six (6) months of customer service experience (volunteer or paid).
Additional Important Information
Preference will be given to returning Seasonal Employees who are eligible for Recall as per AMEA 3.14.8, and to any current Anchorage Municipal Employees Association (AMEA) employees. Recalled and AMEA employees who are successful in the screening process will be forwarded to the department for consideration prior to any non-AMEA applicants.

If selected for hire, appointment in this position will be conditional based upon satisfactory completion of a national criminal background investigation (AS 12.62.160) and (AS 12.62.400). Accordingly, it will be necessary for the selected applicant to provide certain identification information and be fingerprinted. Fingerprint cards must be dated within 30 days from the date requested. The processing fee of $48.25 plus the cost of being fingerprinted (variable), is the responsibility of the selected applicant and must be accomplished before beginning work.
All required certifications and licenses must remain current for the duration of employment.
Military Service Interview Preference:
Veterans or who wish to be considered for interview preference as permitted in Municipal Personnel Rules 3.30.031 D must attach to the application a copy of their DD Form 214, DD Form 256, NGB Form 22, or a letter from the US Department of Veterans Affairs recognizing the person as a veteran. The attached documentation must show an honorable discharge or general (under honorable conditions) discharge. The minimum qualifications of the position must be met for preference consideration.
