JOB TITLE:

FTRC - Applied Teacher, Artist of Trombone

JOB PURPOSE:

The College of Arts and Sciences and the Department of Music at the University of Wyoming invite applicants for the position of Applied Teacher, Artist of Trombone. Job responsibilities include but are not limited to:
  • Teach University of Wyoming trombone students.
  • Recruit and maintain a high-quality Trombone studio.
  • Maintain a high profile as a performer and clinician through state, regional, national, and international ensemble performances, guest performance activities, adjudication, and conference presentations.
  • Perform as a soloist and in faculty ensembles.
  • Engage in collegial participation in departmental, college, and university activities
  • Teach music courses within the candidates' strengths and background as assigned by the Music Department Head.
  • Foster relationships with UW Alumni and state and regional music educators.

REMOTE WORK ELIGIBILITY:

This position provides vital support to campus customers and requires the successful candidate be available to work on campus.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Master's degree is required

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Successful College teaching experience
  • Proven track record of recruiting students and working with public schools
  • Extensive performance background/experience in Jazz
  • Ability to teach courses such as Jazz Techniques, Jazz Ensemble, Music Technology, and Brass Methods.

About the Department:

Small enough for personal attention, yet large enough to support musical activity at the highest level, the University of Wyoming Department of Music offers innovative and challenging curricula that prepare graduates for 21st-century opportunities. The Department of Music is home to 150+ music majors and minors as well as 35 full-time and part-time faculty. Through coursework, recitals, and performances by our 15 ensembles, students gain experience to prepare them for lifelong music making.

Undergraduate students in the Department of Music can pursue degrees in performance, jazz performance, and music education, in addition to a Bachelor of Arts in Music. Graduate students have the opportunity to earn the

Master of Music in Performance or Master of Music Education degrees. Additionally, the Department of Music offers Music Entrepreneurship, Audio Technology, and Performer's certificates.

The Department of Music resides in the Buchanan Center for the Performing Arts. The exquisite facilities feature a 700-seat Concert Hall and a 100-seat Recital Hall in addition to studios, classrooms, rehearsal spaces, and practice rooms.
