Description of Work Unit


The College of Business at Colorado State University is an AACSB -accredited business school that enrolls more than 5,000 undergraduate and graduate students in on-campus and online programs annually. Our 8 centers of excellence connect students with industry experts, offering opportunities to expand their networks and engage in experiential learning.

The Music Business Program delivers academic educational programs (e.g., music business certificate) available to all undergraduates at CSU to familiarize them with the business of music, and prepare them for internships and jobs across music-related industries. The program may expand to include programs for music professionals in the community who require a knowledge of business to be successful.


Position Summary


The Music Business Program Coordinator is responsible for programmatic external engagement and outreach, marketing and communications, operational management, event planning and coordination, financial oversight and compliance, and administrative leadership support. This position requires strong organization and attention to detail, ability to prioritize and meet deadlines, ability to work effectively with executives and diverse stakeholders.


This role reports to the Assistant Director of Music Business with a dotted line reporting to the Director of Music Business and will be essential to enable the program leadership to focus on college-wide priorities and strategic initiatives by successfully executing the programs operational needs.


This position is a full-time special 12-month position with an initial end date of May 15, 2025, and may be renewable contingent upon available funding, continued business needs, and satisfactory performance in the role.


The successful candidate must be legally authorized to work in the United States by the proposed start date; the College of Business will not provide visa sponsorship for this position now nor in the future.


Required Job Qualifications

+ Demonstrated experience in business or program operations.


+ Excellent written and verbal communication skills.


+ Demonstrated ability to organize, prioritize, and meet deadlines for multiple concurrent projects.


+ Demonstrated exceptional interpersonal skills and ability to successfully engage with diverse stakeholders.


+ Demonstrated ability to independently seek solutions to problems.


+ Event planning and execution experience.


+ Ability to work nonstandard hours such as occasional nights and weekends.

Preferred Job Qualifications


+ Proficiency in MS Suite, social media platforms, and other relevant systems.


+ Experience working directly with senior leadership.


+ Experience working in the music industry.


+ Experience implementing communication strategies, planning, and best practices for print and electronic mediums (e.g. newsletters, social media, etc.).


+ Experience or familiarity with Adobe Premiere or other video editing suite

Responsible for operational management for the Music Business Program.


Serve as the primary contact for internal and external stakeholders, departments, and colleges on operational matters. Welcome and assist visitors, answer calls, respond to email, and professionally represent the Music Business Program as needed.


Develop, document, and coordinate program organizational processes.


Conduct research on processes and procedures, report information back to relevant unit members, document information found in an easy to retrieve manner, and prepare documents as needed.


Coordinate program-wide efforts, ensure deadlines are met, and complete research to ensure the proper processes are followed.


Assist with course rollouts, course scheduling, textbook orders and exam scheduling.


Coordinate classroom needs for guest speakers such as scheduling, logistics, tracking, and support.


Prepare paperwork for hiring student employees.


Assist with the development and implementation of student internships.


Monitor and manage budgets, purchases, and accounts by reviewing transactions verifying funding, obtaining signatures, ensuring the availability of funds, and ensuring compliance with regulations.


Complete administrative tasks for program leadership, such as calendar scheduling, developing agendas, responding and drafting email, capturing meeting notes, and other organizational support duties.


Attend College FAST meetings.

Duty/Responsibility


Develop internal and external integrated communication strategies that effectively promote the Music Business Program, its name, brand, mission, programs and events.


Create content for various mediums such as newsletters, direct marketing, websites, emails, fliers/posters, letters, reports and presentations, among others; write, edit and format content accordingly for print and electronic mediums with a high level of attention to detail.


Manage social media, web, and digital presence communication needs; develop, write and organize content accordingly. Stay current on social media trends and campaigns.


Understand design, layout and color concepts to apply in print and electronic mediums; follow branding and logo guidelines set by the College of Business and the University and coordinate with COB Marketing and Communications as appropriate.


Work with relevant departments to plan, schedule, and host program activities with external and other stakeholders. These events include advisory board meetings, alumni events, firm recruiting events, guest speakers, student orientation, and other events.


Develop, manage, and coordinate all events, including invitations, reservations, logistics, safety assurance, agendas, travel, payments, catering orders, vendor and venue management, development and deployment of contingency plans, and other event needs. Attend all events both on and offsite as needed. Ensure superior sustainability practices are being followed for events.


Develop and grow student engagement activities and student participation in events.


Assist with fundraising, donor visits, sponsorships, grant applications, and revenue models. Collaborate with University Development staff as appropriate.


Develop, coordinate, and schedule outreach events.
