POSITION TITLE: Assistant Professor of Commercial Music (Applied Studies)

CLASSIFICATION: Full-Time Faculty

REPORTS TO: Chair, School of Music

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

1. Master's degree in music or professional equivalent.

2. Significant experience in commercial music performance on at least one of the following instruments:

  • Electric Guitar
  • Keys
  • Bass
  • Drums

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

1. Evidence of successful teaching at the collegiate level.

2. Advanced experience with music technology, production technology, and/or industry standard DAWs (ProTools, Logic Pro X, Finale, Ableton Live, etc.).

JOB DESCRIPTION

The Southeastern University School of Music invites applications from energetic and creative individuals for an open position in applied commercial music studies. Primary responsibilities will be teaching coursework related to the commercial industry, especially applied lessons, directing the contemporary band(s), and music business. Other duties will include maintaining and expanding music technology software, mentoring and advising students, and relevant university service. Candidates should demonstrate a strong sense of collegiality, innovation, and celebration of both classical and contemporary music styles. The successful candidate will be actively engaged in recruiting quality students as well as scholarly and creative activities at the local, state, and national levels. Candidates must be committed to excellence in music/music pedagogy and the Christian mission of Southeastern University.

Salary and Rank:

Commensurate with experience.
