Job Title: Public Relations Specialist

Location: Proximity to Minneapolis office preferred.

OVERVIEW

The Public Relations Specialist is responsible for a wide range of activities, including writing, media relations, influencer relations, event support, outcomes measurement and more. As with every level of PR practitioner, the Specialist helps maintain a favorable public image for clients as well as Curious Plot. This individual is familiar with a variety of the public relations field’s concepts, practices and procedures, and relies on his or her own experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.

RESPONSIBILITIES & SKILLS

• Copywriting for a variety of needs/channels
• Media pitching and building media relationships
• Strategic planning, including ideation of fresh ideas for PR campaigns
• Monitoring media coverage and track results and provide regular monitoring and reporting to clients
• Ensuring all communications is consistent with overall brand positioning
• Managing media requests in a prioritized manner
• Supporting strategic planning via Grounded in Truth discovery process
• Tracking budgets and hours on projects
• Effectively managing up with supervisors

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

• Bachelor’s degree in English, journalism, communications, marketing or related field
• 2-4 years of experience in journalism, public relations or corporate communications
• Proficiency with various technology tools including Microsoft Office suite (Word, Powerpoint, Excel, Teams)
• Identifying and working with influencers
