Assigned days and/or shift can be changed according to staffing needs. Must be available evenings, holidays, and weekends as required.

The Writer Public Relations Specialist maintains, expands and implements complex communications strategies for OneLegacy and OneLegacy Foundation. The Specialist will Develop, write, and edit persuasive and informational content across various platforms, including printed collateral, articles, and newsletters, ensuring alignment with organization brand and objectives. Under the strategic direction of the Director, this position is responsible for researching and writing news releases, creating media kits, developing and sustaining relationships with the media, and translating data insights into compelling narratives that enhance brand visibility. This position will contribute to the redevelopment of OneLegacy Inspires Hollywood and perform other related activities to support OneLegacy's eye, tissue and organ donation, OneLegacy programs and initiatives and ongoing marketing campaigns, support events, public relations and community relations.

Duties and Responsibilities:
Coordinate External Public Relations Activity
1.Proactively manage multi-media relationships, secure media placement with various networks and print publications.
2.Write, edit, and proofread press releases, pitches, fact sheets, messaging, byline articles, case studies, white papers, social media posts, and media summaries.
3.Places stories in non-clinical trade publications.
4Support and develop communication strategies for on-site or in-studio production and events, public relations, and community relations in OneLegacy's service area.
5.Manage OneLegacy Inspires Hollywood multimedia partnerships and engage media professionals to depict accurate organ, eye and tissue storylines.
6.Develops relationships with reporters at TV stations airing evening news, major talk radio stations, newspapers with major regional newspapers, and key trade publications.
7.Research and prepare content and talking points for subject matter experts, OneLegacy executives, donor families, organ recipients, and OneLegacy Ambassadors to participate in media interviews.
8.Works with volunteer and community events department staff to identify Ambassadors for emergent media opportunities.
9.Attends staff meetings and training programs and/or in-services as deemed necessary by the immediate manager.
10.Supports the organization's Standards of Professional Conduct as outlined in the OneLegacy Policies and Procedures, and the mission, vision and values in the organization.
11.Identifies and implements marketing and advertising opportunities.
12.Work closely with cross-functional teams to story mine and identify communication opportunities that will resonate with the media and encourage organ and tissue donation.
13.Responses to media inquiries and coordinate/deliver requested information or interviews, ensuring that reporters and other members of the media have a professional and positive interaction with OneLegacy.
14.Performs other duties as assigned.
Write Communications Materials
1.Writes press releases and media advisories.
2.Writes for OneLegacy's multiple newsletters, including OneLegacy Inspires Hollywood.
3.Storyboards and develop program run of shows for internal and external projects.
Develop and draft talking points for internal and external panel discussions.
Oversee Latino Advertising Campaigns
1.Prepares budget, develops media plan, and executes paid advertising campaigns in Latino media.
2.Works with advertising agencies to develop creative as needed.
Secondary Job Functions:
1.Develops and maintains website content; assists in the managing of website blog by developing original content and researching story ideas and photography.
2.Assists with developing, writing, editing, and preparing brochures and other documents for print and online presentations.
3.Contributes to production of major media/community events, including:
Skills and Abilities:
1.Excellent oral and written communication skills in both English and Spanish.
2.Ability to initiate, prioritize and organize the work of self and others.
Advanced proficiency in all major social media platforms and related monitoring tools.
3.Ability to establish and maintain positive relationships with co-workers, volunteers, and the general public.
4.Demonstrated ability to manage contact databases.
5.Proficient PC skills including Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint.
6.Ability to establish and maintain positive relationships with co-workers, volunteers, and the general public.
7.Ability to independently represent OneLegacy in a professional manner in presentations, meetings and media interviews.
Physical Environment/Working Conditions:
Location: Corporate Office. All OneLegacy offices are non-smoking facilities.
Travel: Occasionally required to travel by personal auto or air to meeting sites and other locations.
Work Hours: Forty-hour workweek as determined by assigned shift. Assigned days or shift can be changed at any time.
Job Qualifications:
Education: Bachelor's Degree required, preferably in business, marketing or communications/PR.
Experience: Minimum of five years of professional experience in media or public relations required. Must have at least 3 years' experience working with Facebook, Twitter, and other social media platforms. Full knowledge of local media outlets.
Bilingual English / Spanish (able to fluently speak, read and write English and Spanish) strongly preferred.
Proficient skills using the MS 2010 Suite software.
Certification & License: OneLegacy requires employees to maintain a current California driver's license and current vehicle insurance based on California minimum insurance coverage standards.
Equipment: Reliable automotive transportation required.
