Position Summary

Assist with the day-to-day operation of the Pottery.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Adhere to a 24-hour weekly work schedule. Work with other Studio Technicians and be flexible in providing staff coverage when required.
  • Mix, maintain and supply clay for all classrooms and maintain the reclaimed clay.
  • Mix and maintain all glazes, slips, and washes for the studio.
  • Help load and unload kilns. Assist with unloading clay and supply deliveries.
  • Maintain a dust free work environment, use proper safety equipment and clean up.
  • Respond to student/faculty inquiries and questions.
  • Provide staff presence for classes and help with orientation for new classes or students.
  • Assist with planning and preparation of special events.
  • Interact with all levels of personnel within GHP, and maintain professional relationships with our customers. Update Studio Manager and GHP Administration of any issues in a timely manner.
  • Perform other tasks and special projects as assigned by direct supervisor.

Qualifications
  • A desire to work in the field of ceramics.
  • Bachelor of Fine Arts required; Master of Fine Arts a plus.
  • Good social and communication skills.
  • A self-starter who works well without close supervision and can establish priorities when presented with multiple tasks.
  • Experience with ceramic fabrication (mold-making, glazing, etc.) a plus.
