The UX Researcher will be an integral part of the research and design process across several digital products and concepts. You will work collaboratively with UX Research Team, UX/UI Design Teams, Product & Marketing Strategy Teams, UI Developers, and Prototypers to provide consistent and top-quality analysis to inform the strategic direction of content and designs, conduct UX Research across multiple platforms and channels, and support the evolution of the group's overall strategy
As a UX Researcher, you will be tasked with conducting and coordinating research from discovery to competitive analysis with existing products and aid in the overall product development lifecycle. You will be expected to thrive in a rapidly changing startup environment to define/shape the User Research discipline while creatively and resourcefully problem-solving through a myriad of constraints. As a UX Researcher you will be responsible for conducting research, scheduling and managing research projects and delivering actionable insights for a variety of digital financial projects. In a nutshell, we want to out-distance the competition and vastly improve any customer tool, application, and interface we touch. A successful candidate will be able to work closely with the overall research team, understand research and deliverable needs, provide compelling analysis with actionable recommendations, and navigate cultural nuances, as well as integrate seamlessly with the GCT team.
Responsibilities:
1) Work with the research team to understand Design team questions and problems and translate them into a testable hypothesis, complete with a specific method and tasks that illuminate the heart of the issue.
2) Prioritize research asks and timelines across domains with research schedules.
3) Provide design recommendations with firm conviction and a gentle touch, while carefully reading people so you'll always know the right balance of each.
4) Perform other miracles and mythic feats as assigned, then figure out what else needs to be done.
Qualifications:
Must Have's:
1) Bachelor's Degree in UX-related field of study or Communications or Business equivalent
1-2 years of UX research experience with an emphasis on generating well thought out, thorough, yet concise deliverables with actionable recommendations
2) Working knowledge of user experience research tools and techniques (e.g. expert reviews, usability testing, benchmarking, competitive/comparative analysis, rapid iterative testing, etc.), and knowing the strengths and weaknesses of each.
3) Independently scope and plan a research program (can include multiple projects with multiple related studies), consulting with relevant stakeholders and team members.
4) Ability to connect research findings from multiple projects/sources and provide insights on a higher order
5) Confidently apply a range of frameworks to synthesize and solve research problems
6) Strong understanding of user interface design practices and principles a must, better still if you can demonstrate experience relating to research
7) Strong communication, critical thinking, and creative problem-solving skills required. Your ability to demonstrate success in these areas should quickly become obvious.
8) Ability to communicate research results, graphically depict data orally and in writing.
9) Ability to work independently, in a team, and with or without direction is imperative.
Nice to Have's:
1) Degree in related field
2) Related experience in another field such as interactive design, information architecture, and/or market research is a plus.
3) Knowledge of UserZoom, Adobe Connect, Sketch, InVision or other research and prototyping tools are additionally advantageous
