Engineering level Technical Writer in the Rail Construction Industry

Responsibilities

• Develop, revise, and maintain standard engineering specifications in the rail industry;
• Develop technical documents to support design, construction, contracts, and operation processes for capital and non-capital projects;
• Develop and revise solicitation documents, including but not limited to, Statement of Work, Requests for information, and/or requests for bids/proposals;
• Prepare policy and procedure documentation;
• Maintain the most up-to-date versions of technical standards in an orderly manner;
• Conduct timely technical reviews of draft documents;
• Perform additional assignments as directed by the Task Manager.

Background and Experience Required for Specification Writers

• Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or related field;
• Minimum of five (5) years of experience in preparing technical specifications and documents for rail transit projects;
• Ability to work collaboratively across departments within a quasi-Government facility;
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (entire suite);
• Ability to write clearly and professionally;
• Ability to produce communications quickly, efficiently, and to a high standard;
• General knowledge of rail transit agencies' design, construction, contracts, and operations processes.
