The Grant Writer for population health and development is responsible for working collaboratively with the Chief of Population Health and Research Officer and Principal Investigators to identify population health research and funding opportunities and the Chief Development Officer to advance the philanthropic profile of Nashville General Hospital by building relationships with foundations, corporations, and other grant-making entities to encourage higher levels of support and involvement according to sound standard operating procedures and all required quality standards defined by applicable research regulatory bodies.

This is a Hybrid position - working 2 days onsite and 3 days in a remote workspace

As a Grant Writer, you will:

  • Conduct research activities including research question formulation and generating timelines.
  • Assist in the development of project budgets and ensure compliance with institutional and funder guidelines.
  • Work with the institution's finance and legal departments to ensure proper grant management and compliance
  • Develop standard operating procedures and tools for population health grant selection and management.
  • Oversee all population health grant management activities including competitive grant selection, management, generating annual reports, monitoring, and closeout.
  • Maintain a database of grant prospects, submission deadlines, grant activities and outcomes
  • Provide regular status reports on population health grant implementation in conjunction with grant accountant reports.
  • Provide analysis of sponsor guidelines, develops budgets for grant applications, review agency application forms and administrative documents of proposals to sponsoring agencies.
  • Co-lead extramural grant submissions, peer-reviewed publications, and presentations with principal investigators.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
  • A minimum of 5 years of successful experience grant writing.
  • Bachelor's Degree required and Master's Degree preferred
  • Grant Processional Certified (GPC) Preferred
