YMCA of Greater Kansas City is hiring: Music Instructor - Piano in Tacoma

The YMCA of Pierce and Kitsap Counties is seeking a Music Instructorto join our team and lead our music classes!

This position supports the work of the Y, a leading non-profit, charitable organization committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility.

As a Music Instructor, you will give youth and teens the opportunity to build self-confidence and interpersonal skills, by learning how to play, perform, and compose music.

Key Responsibilities:

• Developing lesson plans
• Demonstrating sound, technical and artistic principles
• Providing an impactful experience to students
• Monitoring student progress
• Communicating program information to students and parents

Are you a good fit?

• You are committed to valuing and promoting diversity and contributing to an inclusive working and learning environment.
• You have 5 years of formal music training (preferred).
• You have 1-2 years of experience as a music teacher and/or teaching assistant.
• You are able to instruct beginning and intermediate level music classes

• You are excited to teach music classes for ages preschool through adult.
• You have a positive attitude and previous experience with varying ages and diverse populations.
• You firmly believe that the arts should be open to everyone regardless of artistic ability, experience, or financial circumstance.
• You are able and willing to take Child Abuse prevention on the first day as well as other online and in-person trainings as required.

Wage: $16.28 to $18.28 per hour, depending on qualifications

Hours: Part-Time, Up to 25 hours per week

Location: Morgan Family YMCA, Tacoma, WA
