The Vice President of Development & Communications (VP) is responsible for leading all aspects of CHFH’s fundraising and communication programs to achieve the organization’s bold financial and relational goals. Reporting to the President & CEO, the VP works with the organization’s Board of Directors, Committees, staff, and volunteers to maintain and increase financial support and public image for the organization.
Job Responsibilities:
Oversees and maintains a comprehensive database of donors, volunteers, and supporters. Collaborates with staff, Board, Committees, and volunteers in the identification, cultivation, and solicitation of donors and prospects. Motivates, supervises, evaluates, and mentors the Development staff team and creates a supportive, collaborative, productive, and healthy work environment based on respect, teamwork, and clear expectations and responsibilities. Is responsible for managing a portfolio of high net worth donors and prospects and developing and implementing tailored cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship plans for those donors. Manages a robust and growing grant portfolio. Responsible for research, communication with potential grantors, proposal development, and timely reporting and tracking of all funded grants. Creates and oversees the creation of all communications and marketing materials and ensures a consistent message and look that builds a case for support. This includes but is not limited to social media, newsletters, fundraising materials, donor acknowledgments, annual reports, website, and grant proposals. As a passionate and informed advocate for Habitat and affordable housing, serve as one of the key spokespeople for the organization.
Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree or substantial equivalent experience. Fearless and creative fundraiser with at least 5 years’ experience and a proven track record in a full range of fundraising including major gifts, annual fund, sponsorships, grants, special events, and planned giving. Experience in fundraising for special / capital campaigns preferred. Experience fundraising in Chatham County is a plus. Experience in utilizing technology for fundraising and communications. CHFH uses Virtuous (CRM), Volunteer Hub, Airtable, Microsoft and Google products. Experience with these or similar programs is preferred. Excellent communication skills, both written and oral, and an ability to engage a wide range of donors and key stakeholders to build long-term relationships. Absolute integrity and transparency, ability to treat colleagues, donors, volunteers, and community members with respect while maintaining confidentiality. Exceptional planning skills: goal and detail oriented with the ability to set and meet deadlines. Able to construct, articulate, implement, and manage annual plans and budgets. Staff supervision and leadership experience is required, as is a demonstrated ability to create a shared commitment to the mission and a creative, healthy work environment. Understanding of the relationship of housing insecurity and poverty to a systemically unjust US housing policy framework. Passion for the mission of Habitat for Humanity and deep empathy for the people that Habitat serves. Flexible and adaptable work style with the ability to work some nights and weekends, manage competing demands, and work independently without close oversight. Creative, adaptable, with a sense of humor and optimism. Track record of working effectively with colleagues, volunteers, and donors regardless of their economic status, ethnicity, race, gender, gender identity, education level, or sexual orientation.
This is a full-time (40 hour per week), exempt position. The salary is $55,000-$65,000 annually, dependent on experience. Position is located in Pittsboro, NC at the Chatham Habitat office. Occasional remote work is available, but the majority is in-office. Job offers are contingent upon a background check and receipt of Covid-19 vaccination record (or documented medical or religious exception).
