HDR's full-service Strategic Communications Department works to help our clients manage the social and political risk primarily associated with infrastructure projects. We employ Coordinators and Graphic Designers who partner with our clients and each other on public involvement, community engagement, stakeholder outreach, event planning and implementation, and facilitation. Our creative team works hand-in-hand with our communications coordinators to develop graphics for events, public-facing project materials, websites and virtual meetings, presentations, and promotional materials. About the Position Inform. Inspire. Engage. HDR's Colorado Strategic Communications team is seeking a Graphic Designer/Graphic Production Assistant with the skills and desire to support HDR-led strategic communication activities throughout Colorado and Wyoming. Our visual artists partner with internal and external stakeholders and technical experts to create meaningful, public-facing communications that educate, engage and inspire. We team with HDR's industry-leading engineering, architecture, and advisory experts to implement ideas that put people first in planning and infrastructure projects. This detail-oriented and organized visual artist will be a part of the Colorado Strategic Communications team producing innovative and easy to understand graphic deliverables for a wide-variety of clients. They will also assist the Creative Director with production communications, workload, and file organization. Our visual artists must be able to combine their creative talent with a strategic, problem-solving mindset to guide teams and clients to re-imagine complex problems, resulting in innovative design solutions that make meaningful connections with the public. Primary Responsibilities Development of compelling, professional, visual-focused designs that communicate and educate about wide-ranging variety of infrastructure projects. Work products may include handouts and flyers, infographics, poster boards, presentations, branding design, annual and project reports, web and direct mail pieces, advertisements, interactive media, video graphics, style guides, logos, icons, etc. Assistance with creative team workload management, working with printing vendors, archiving, and organizing files/marketing materials. Ensure brand standards and production quality on all work products for a diverse range of clients across the Colorado region with opportunities to partner on national or global projects. Interpret and distill highly technical information for mainstream audiences with a strong emphasis on data-driven, technical design. Collaborate with Project Coordinators to define goals and provide input on strategy and innovative message delivery for targeted audiences. Ability to perform a self-QC and review and update existing graphic designs with requested updates quickly and efficiently. Track product workflow and timelines to ensure projects progress in a timely manner.

Preferred Qualifications A meticulous creative self-starter who excels in a fast-paced, client-focused, team environment. Degree in graphic design preferred, or equivalent experience; experience with graphic design for journalism, public-relations, engineering or infrastructure projects strongly preferred. A digital or hard copy graphic design portfolio that demonstrates your talent and ability to create beautiful, smart designs, as well as your exposure to a variety of marketing and advertising media (portfolios with examples of public-facing designs, report summary documents, process-driven/technical graphics, maps, and visual problem-solving techniques in use are strongly preferred). Strong written, verbal, collaboration, and organizational skills. Ability to design in a wide variety of styles and an understanding of branding/brand development, communications and research. Ability to handle multiple assignments at a time and meet set deadlines. Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite print and digital design. Proficiency or interest in learning 508/ADA Compliance for digital design. Offset printing/digital printing/color correction knowledge. A sharp eye for attention to details, such as typography, alignment, hierarchy, etc. An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture. The expected compensation range for this position depends upon skills, experience, education and geographical location. (Stated benefits are for full-time regular positions.
