Description

We are seeking an Associate Outerwear and Wovens Apparel Designer to support the design and development of trend-forward, high-quality products for the women's junior market. The ideal candidate will bring creativity, technical skills, and a collaborative mindset to assist in executing innovative designs across various price points.

Responsibilities:

Design & Product Development:

  • Assist in creating and maintaining line plans for in-house and private label collections.
  • Support the design of outerwear, ensuring attention to detail in trims, fabrics, and construction techniques.
  • Conduct market research to identify trends, competitive insights, and new product opportunities.
  • Prepare detailed flat sketches and tech packs using Adobe Illustrator to support product development.
  • Collaborate with overseas offices to track sampling progress and ensure quality standards are met.
  • Participate in fit sessions, providing feedback on samples and assisting in fit adjustments.
  • Ensure adherence to time-and-action calendars to meet development and production deadlines.
Cross-Functional Collaboration:
  • Partner with the Design and Merchandising teams to align designs with brand direction and SKU plans.
  • Work closely with the technical design team to refine fit and garment specifications.
  • Assist in sourcing trending materials and trims in collaboration with the fabric sourcing team.
  • Provide support in resolving production challenges to maintain quality and on-time delivery.
Requirements
  • 2+ years of experience in apparel design with a focus on wovens and outerwear preferred, particularly in the women's junior market
  • Proven ability to create on-trend, commercially viable designs in a fast-paced, competitive retail landscape
  • Strong understanding of fabric properties, garment construction, and product development processes
  • Experience with private label product development and brand differentiation strategies.
  • Proficiency in Adobe Illustrator with the ability to create detailed flat sketches and complete tech packs
  • Excellent collaboration skills with the ability to work closely with merchandising, technical, and sourcing teams
  • Exceptional market awareness and ability to translate trend insights into actionable, successful designs
  • Strong communication and presentation skills, with the ability to articulate design concepts clearly
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities under tight deadlines while maintaining attention to detail
  • A proactive, team-oriented mindset with strong problem-solving skills


Hybrid Work Schedule

3 days a week in the office, 2 days' work from home

New York Pay Rate $53,000 - $65,000
