Sony Music Entertainment is a member of the Sony family of global companies.
This is a key role in Sony Music Vision's global Sales and Distribution department, developing and executing sales and distribution strategies for new release and high-priority catalog titles. The VP, Sales and Distribution will be responsible for growing the division's licensing business by increasing deal flow, growing the client base, overseeing subdistributors, and creating bespoke pitching strategies for premium documentary features, unscripted series, broadcast specials, and concert films.
What you'll do:
Develop and execute sales strategies and multi-window release plans to maximize revenue, awareness, and viewership for ~40% of the new release slate.
Deliver impactful results for high priority titles entering their 2nd window, as well as re-release strategies for top-tier catalog titles.
Collaborate with filmmakers, labels, and artist reps to devise creative, bespoke pitching strategies and/or release plans for each project.
Expand and deepen relationships with key US and global TV and SVOD buyers of premium documentaries, unscripted series, broadcast specials, and concert films. Directly manage client relationships with ~50% of the TV and SVOD client base.
Oversee EST, TVOD, and AVOD distribution for new releases and the Sony Music Vision worldwide library, including deal negotiations with new platforms, title selections, release planning, and coordination of promotional support.
Liaise with regional teams to leverage relationships with local buyers.
Work with sub distributors and sales agents as needed to deliver on revenue and audience goals.
Partner with Marketing and Communications teams to create sales materials and PR plans to support sales needs.
Work with Business Affairs to strategize and negotiate agreements.
Collaborate with Finance to analyze results and build an annual business plan that grows both new release and catalog sales year on year.
Liaise with Operations to ensure delivery timelines are met and partner issues are escalated and resolved in a timely manner.
Generate sales reports and release recaps for internal and external stakeholders.
Who you are:
10+ years experience selling new release and library films and series to US and global buyers, including pitching, packaging, and deal negotiations.
Previous experience creating bespoke sales strategies for new-to-market content, such as independent feature films or premium documentaries.
Must have previous experience managing and communicating with large, complex groups of stakeholders.
Deep relationships with key US TV and SVOD buyers required. Additional experience selling to international broadcasters and theatrical distributors/all-rights buyers preferred.
Proven track record managing a wide variety of stakeholders and balancing financial goals with other KPIs, such as audience reach.
Previous experience overseeing multi-window releases across theatrical, non-theatrical, EST/TVOD, TV, SVOD, and AVOD.
Must have at least 3 years experience working within a large, multinational corporation.

The anticipated annual base salary does not include any other compensation components or other benefits that an individual may be eligible for. The actual base salary offered depends on a variety of factors, which may include as applicable, the qualifications of the individual applicant for the position, years of relevant experience, specific and unique skills, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held, and the location in which the applicant lives and/or from which they will be performing the job. California Pay Range $190,000 — $225,000 USD
