Description
Overview:
The CAD Design Manager will have overall responsibility for the mechanical design drawing creation in the APC division. This position will report to the Engineering Manager and will build and maintain a data driven CAD program for the design and execution of Air Pollution Control equipment projects. The position will also be responsible for enforcement of CAD and design standards seeing that the design engineers are meeting design deadlines with consistent and high quality drawings.
Roles & Responsibilities:
•Oversee the implementation, customization, and maintenance of Autodesk Inventor, Autodesk Vault, AutoCAD Plant 3D, and Autodesk Construction Cloud and other tools.
•Develop and enforce CAD standards and best practices to ensure consistency and efficiency.
•Manage the drawing workload among the team of mechanical design engineers.
•Utilize Autodesk Construction Cloud and other data analysis tools to gather and analyze project data, ensuring accurate reporting on project progress, productivity, and standards adherence.
•Generate regular reports for management, providing insights into key performance indicators and recommending improvements.
•Recruit, train, and mentor CAD professionals.
•Assist the Engineering Manager with performance reviews and facilitating professional development for team members.
•Work closely with cross-functional teams of mechanical design, electrical design, and process engineering to understand project requirements and provide CAD support.
•Foster collaboration between CAD teams at different locations (Kennesaw, GA/Eugene, OR/Ruston, LA/Redmond, WA) to ensure consistency in design processes.
•Collaborate with project managers to define CAD scope, timelines, and deliverables.
•Monitor project progress and ensure CAD resources are allocated appropriately.
•Develop and conduct training programs for CAD users to enhance their skills and knowledge.
•Provide technical support and troubleshooting for CAD software-related issues.
•Stay current with industry trends and advancements in CAD technology.
•Evaluate and recommend new CAD tools and technologies that align with the company's needs.
•Occasional travel to business unit sites or training opportunities (less than 10%)
•Provide leadership and direction to the CAD team across multiple locations.
•Foster a collaborative and innovative environment to enhance productivity and creativity within the CAD department.
