Job Description
The Brennan Center for Justice at NYU School of Law is a nonpartisan law and policy institute that seeks to improve the systems of democracy and justice in the United States. Position Overview:
The Brennan Center for Justice seeks a Multimedia Editor/Producer to create and edit digital assets for the Brennan Center brand. The ideal candidate will possess experience working with various media formats, including still imagery, video, motion graphics, and audio. The Multimedia Editor/Producer will leverage their skills to generate compelling, shareable multimedia content that effectively illustrates Brennan Center’s core issues and motivates viewers to deepen their engagement with our work. This full-time position reports to the Director of Creative & Multimedia and collaborates closely with members of the Communications team.
The role of the Multimedia Editor/Producer focuses on content creation, video editing, video production, visual asset curation, vendor relations, asset management, cross-functional collaboration, photoshoot production, and handles multimedia invoices. The Multimedia Editor/Producer will oversee the entire lifecycle of short-form multimedia projects, from conceptualization to completion and distribution, ensuring that the content is engaging, consistent with the brand, and optimized for various digital platforms. The role also assists with budgets and contracts and maintains relationships with external vendors. Additionally, the Multimedia Editor/Producer stays up-to-date on trends and technologies in the field, adapting strategies and workflows as needed. The Multimedia Editor/Producer plays a crucial role in ensuring that the organization's multimedia content is high quality, impactful, and aligned with overall goals and messaging.

Responsibilities Include:
Video Production: Produce, film, and edit short-form video content for digital channels.
Visual Asset Curation: Research, edit and select compelling still and motion visuals for diverse digital and print applications, optimizing for platform specifications.
Vendor Relations: Negotiate contracts, licenses, and purchases for still and motion imagery from external vendors, ensuring cost-effectiveness and quality.
Asset Management: Help maintain the organization's digital asset management (DAM) system by organizing and storing photo and video assets, implementing efficient logging and retrieval processes, and uploading completed visual assets to digital platforms.
Cross-Functional Collaboration: Collaborate with editorial, events and digital colleagues to create and repurpose multimedia content.
Social Media Optimization: Uphold production guidelines for all social media platforms, ensuring content adheres to current design trends and technical requirements.
Photoshoot Production: Lead all aspects of photoshoot production: scheduling, crew coordination, on-set direction, image editing and post-production workflow with retouchers.
Budget Management: Maintain preparation and tracking of departmental budgets, contracts, and expenses, ensuring financial accountability and resource optimization and other duties, as assigned.
Qualifications:
Minimum 3-5 years of professional multimedia production experience, preferably in nonprofits, marketing/advertising, think tanks, or advocacy.
Exceptional verbal and interpersonal communication skills.
Proven ability to manage projects, time, and budgets effectively, including experience with workflow optimization.
Experience in leading research, securing stock imagery (both still and motion), and producing/editing short-form video in a fast-paced, collaborative setting.
Possesses comprehensive skills in every stage of video creation.
Experience with filming and assisting on a video production set, including set up, using cameras, [iPhone Pro and digital cine] lighting and sound equipment.
Skilled in handling and archiving diverse image and audio formats.
Proficient in licensing still and motion imagery for print and digital use.
Strong attention to detail and decision-making capabilities.
Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and produce rapid-response multimedia content.
Advanced proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Premiere Pro, After Effects, Photoshop).
Working knowledge of color correction, color grading, and sound design.
Receptive to feedback, with a positive attitude and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
Ability to lift to 40 lbs. unassisted.
Familiarity with Spanish language preferred but not required.

Compensation and Benefits:
The salary range assigned for this position is $90,000-$100,000. We determine our salary ranges based on market competitiveness and internal equity for each job. The salary offered to a selected candidate will be contingent upon the candidate’s qualifications and internal equity considerations. Additionally, we offer a very robust and competitive array of benefits such as a generous time off program, 401k plan, comprehensive health insurance (medical, dental, and vision), and wellness and office perks.
In addition, this position is part of a bargaining unit represented by the National Organization of Legal Services Workers, UAW local 2320.
