GIS Developer Location -
Minneapolis - hybrid/2-3 days onsite required Contract Position
Position Summary:
The GIS Developer is responsible for planning and performing technical tasks related to supporting public safety GIS data sets. This includes geodatabase design and development, as well as data collection, creation, and conversion based on project or task requirements. The position will play a crucial role in the enterprise GIS database buildout and data management processes.
Key Responsibilities: Digitize, create, convert, migrate, and update GIS databases from multiple source locations and formats. Research attribute information through data mining and interpretation of construction and as-built drawings. Synthesize a variety of GIS data for use in analysis and mapping products for multi-disciplinary departments within the organization. Collaborate with other IT staff and project managers to develop requirements to support GIS integration and functionality for IT projects. Coordinate with internal business departments to develop GIS data requirements that support increased value and efficient business functions, workflows, and applications. Develop repeatable quality control and data maintenance processes, automated when possible, for enterprise data management. Conduct a variety of geoprocessing and GIS analysis tasks. Support the development and enforcement of data governance practices that ensure data quality and timeliness. Provide overall GIS support for the organization.
Qualifications: Bachelor's degree or higher in Geography, GIS, Computer Science, or a related field. 3-5 years of work experience in a professional GIS role. Data management experience with multiple data types and formats (geodatabase, RDBMS, shapefiles). Project or enterprise experience collecting, converting, developing, and maintaining GIS data for asset inventories. Experience with data mining and records research for asset information. Ability to derive and document GIS data requirements through collaboration with other business departments. Experience with ESRI’s ArcGIS 10.x or ArcPro 3.x suite. Knowledge of QA/QC processes used for GIS data maintenance. Strong problem-solving, communication, and organizational skills. Positive attitude and passion for GIS data integrity.
Preferred Qualifications: Experience with ArcGIS Portal and/or ArcGIS Online. Knowledge and experience with Survey 1,2,3 and Collector for ArcGIS. Knowledge and experience developing and maintaining GIS routing networks. Experience working in public safety environments. Exposure to data governance best practices.
