Government Contracts Consultant:
We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Government Contracts Consultant with expertise in identifying, researching, and responding to Requests for Information (RFIs) and Requests for Proposals (RFPs) from government agencies. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in government procurement processes, excellent writing and communication skills, and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Research & Identification:
Continuously monitor various government portals, procurement websites, and other sources to identify relevant RFI/RFP opportunities.
Utilize your network of contacts as well as develop new contacts and outreach to them to facilitate visibility into opportunities that are or may exist in the near future. Make sure we are on their radar and assist, where ethical, in writing requirements into RFI’s and RFP's to align with our suite of products and services.
Analyze and interpret government solicitations to determine eligibility and alignment with company capabilities.
Stay updated on government procurement policies, and upcoming opportunities.
Proposal Development:
Lead the development of comprehensive and competitive responses to RFIs and RFPs, ensuring compliance with all requirements and submission guidelines.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams (Education/delivery, Corp Dev, Sales, Finance, legal, etc.) to gather necessary information and insights for proposal content.
Draft, review, and edit proposal content, including technical and management approaches, past performance, Capability Statements and Briefings, and other required sections.
Ensure that proposals are compelling, persuasive, and tailored to the specific needs of the government agency and compatible with our offerings.
Client & Stakeholder Engagement:
Serve as the primary point of contact for all government RFI/RFP-related activities.
Engage with potential government clients to clarify requirements, ask pertinent questions, and ensure a deep understanding of the solicitation.
Coordinate with internal stakeholders to ensure alignment on proposal strategy and content.
Compliance & Documentation:
Ensure all submissions comply with government regulations, company policies, and contractual obligations.
Maintain detailed records of all RFI/RFP responses, including proposal drafts, final submissions, and feedback from government agencies.
Track and report on the status of proposals, including win/loss rates, reasons for outcomes, and lessons learned for continuous improvement.
Strategic Planning & Improvement:
Contribute to the development of a strategic plan for identifying and pursuing government contracts.
Provide recommendations for process improvements to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of the proposal development process.
Assist in building and maintaining a knowledge base of successful proposal strategies, templates, and best practices.
KEY COMPETENCIES:
Strong understanding of government procurement processes and regulations (e.g., FAR, DFARS).
Exceptional writing, editing, and proofreading skills.
Ability to manage multiple projects under tight deadlines.
Strong analytical skills, with the ability to interpret complex solicitation requirements.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Acrobat, and proposal management tools.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Public Administration, Communications, or a related field. A master’s degree is a plus.
Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in government contracting, with a focus on RFI/RFP response and proposal writing.
Proven track record of successful government contract awards.
