Description

SUMMARY: The Grant Writer will be responsible for researching, writing, and coordinating the grant application process; managing proposals and maintaining a calendar of submissions and deadlines. The ideal candidate will have excellent writing skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work under tight deadlines.

This position reports to the Grants Manager and will serve as member of the Resource Development Team. The work engages every department of the organization, including Clubhouse, Athletics, Child Development, and Administration.

  • Ensure proper administrative, staff and board, infrastructure/internal operations are in place to support BGC Alaska's growth and development.
Essential Job Responsibilities:
  • Research and identify potential grant opportunities from government agencies, and foundations.
  • Discusses available funding and other resources with the Grants Manager and other agency decision-makers.
  • Communicates with potential funders and potential programmatic partners to refine ideas for proposal development.
  • Process data to be used for applications and reports.
  • Compiles necessary information for application processes through collaboration with other employees, database research, and other information gathering activities and meetings.
  • Write and submit grant proposals, letters of inquiry, reports and other supporting documents.
  • Maintain a calendar of grant and report deadlines in designated database.
  • Ensure timely submissions of application
  • Track and report on the status of submitted proposals.
  • Assist in the development of annual Resource Development plans and strategies.
  • Ensure compliance with all grant requirements and regulations.
Requirements

SKILLS & KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED

  • Bachelor's Degree (B.A.) from an accredited college or university in a field that supports the skill sets required of the position.
  • Proven experience in grant writing and research.
  • Excellent planning, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong social media skills, including an understanding of key platforms, trends, and current best practices.
  • Ability to achieve and maintain First Aid and CPR certification.
  • Must pass a name-based and fingerprint criminal records background check.
  • Must maintain a valid driver's license and a good driving history

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to walk, sit, stand, utilize fine and gross motor manipulation, and climbing ramps, stairs and/or into planes.

WORK ENVIRONMENT
  • Primarily a normal internal work environment. Performing the duties of this job may include activities hosted outdoors in various weather conditions. Noise levels for activities in the Club environment may be loud.
  • The position will include regular local travel to Clubs in the Anchorage/Mat-Su region and occasional travel to other communities the Clubs serve statewide.
  • Work during evenings and weekends will occasionally be required, given the nature of the position and its connection with community partners.
  • Our organization participates in payroll through direct deposit and all employees are required to main a valid bank account during the course of their employment.

Salary Description

$52,000 to $72,000 DOE
