**ABOUT THE COLLEGE**


John Jay College of Criminal Justice is a senior college of the City University of New York (CUNY) and an internationally recognized leader in educating for justice. Led by President Karol V. **POSITION OVERVIEW**


The Music faculty of the Arts and Music Department at John Jay College invites dynamic scholar-musiciansto applyfor a tenure track Assistant Professor to begin August 2025. We are particularly interested in individuals whoseresearch and scholarly interests are focused broadly on the Black Atlantic. The candidate should also have significant professional experience with music technology as a performer/composer and be an excellent teacher of digital technology and its application towards music composition. Teaching responsibilities include undergraduate courses on American popular music (jazz, rock, etc.) as well as digital music composition, including Introduction to Music Technology, Advanced Music Technology and Composition, and Songwriting.


Additional responsibilities include serving on departmental and college-wide committees, and the development and implementation of new curriculum, course scheduling, and eventually assuming the role of rotating Chair of the department. The prospective hire would join a dynamic team of scholar-musicians, visual artists and art historians within the department of Art and Music at John Jay College.

**QUALIFICATIONS**


Ph.D. degree in area(s) of expertise. Also required are the ability to teach successfully, demonstrated potential for scholarly achievement, and ability to cooperate with others for the good of the institution.


**COMPENSATION**


$52,667- $99,532 Salary commensurate with education and credentials.
