What You'll Do
You'll be matched with an opportunity to teach a Monday podcasting course in the afternoon to 11th and 12th graders at a school in Kingsbridge in the Bronx. You will be teaching the following:
Recording Basics: Show how to use a microphone, set up recording software, and understand basic audio settings.Hands-On Practice: Allow kids to record their episodes in small groups or individually, practicing their scripts and using the equipment.
- Basic Editing Skills: Teach how to use simple audio editing software (like Audacity or GarageBand) to cut, arrange, and enhance their recordings.
- Adding Music and Effects:Introduce how to add background music or sound effects to make the podcast more engaging
- Exporting Files: Show how to export the final podcast episode in the correct format.
- Sharing: Discuss how podcasts can be shared with family and friends, or even uploaded to a simple platform for a wider audience.
- Able to create positive class community and build relationships with students
- Experience leading your own classes
