Job Description
Emergent Method is seeking an experienced communications, marketing, or public relations professional to join our team as a senior communication consultant. This role will be responsible for leading and supporting a wide variety of public relations, marketing, outreach and engagement, and strategic communications initiatives and projects for the firm and its clients. This is a full-time position based in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.
The ideal candidate must demonstrate strong copywriting and project management skills and an ability to create compelling content and messaging for a variety of media and deliverables. This individual should also have a strong work ethic, a keen attention to detail, an eagerness to learn and grow professionally, the ability to work in a fast-paced, collaborative environment, and be a creative problem solver.
Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
  • Support client engagements related to strategic communication, public relations, stakeholder engagement, public outreach, research, or other needs
  • Use problem-solving skills to identify client needs, define goals and objectives, and coordinate and develop communication deliverables, plans, and campaigns that are strategic, comprehensive, and aligned with client goals
  • Create a variety of communication deliverables, including media releases, reports, proposals, speeches, company publications, public statements, social media content, and website content for a variety of projects and clients
  • Support and develop strategy for dissemination of materials through appropriate communication channels
  • Utilize project management skills for proactive communication with clients and team members, documenting project progress and meetings, tracking and reporting progress on project milestones, understanding client needs, developing appropriate timelines and processes, seeking feedback, and delivering above-satisfactory deliverables and work products
  • Think critically and demonstrate a willingness to “roll up your sleeves” and complete tasks and projects with minimal oversight
  • Serve as a trusted client resource and uphold the firm’s reputation by remaining client-focused and committed to delivering above and beyond expectations

Minimum qualifications and expectations include:
  • Bachelor’s degree in mass communication, public relations, marketing, or a related field
  • Three to five years of experience in communications, marketing, public relations, public outreach, communication consulting, or related experience that clearly demonstrates comparable knowledge, skills, and abilities
  • Demonstrated skills in content development, with expertise in AP and related style guidelines
  • Ability to conceptualize and execute on a variety of communication efforts, including in-person, print, and digital outreach
  • Willingness to learn and understand a wide variety of subject matter related to client industries and ability to translate industry language to various stakeholders and audiences
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, organizational and time management skills, attention to detail, and commitment to deadlines
  • Ability to manage projects and willingness to take ownership over timelines and work product
  • Eagerness to build meaningful relationships with team members and clients
  • Ability to navigate sensitive and/or confidential conversations with clients
  • Ability to multitask, shifting from project to project and balancing competing priorities
  • Willingness to learn new skills and adopt new methodologies; openminded and accepting of feedback
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office programs, specifically Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint

Desired qualifications include:
  • Experience working for an advertising or public relations agency
  • Experience working in employee communications, business communications, executive-level communications, crisis communications, or media relations
