Summary:
This position is located in Arlington, Virginia. The Communication Strategist (Intermediate) will play a key role in supporting the development and execution of strategic communication campaigns for the Office of the Chief of Public Affairs. This position requires a strong understanding of strategic communication principles, media relations, and public affairs best practices within the Department of Defense. The successful candidate will possess excellent writing, analytical, and interpersonal skills, and the ability to work independently and as part of a team.

- Develop & execute strategic communication plans.
- Analyze target audiences & media landscapes.
- Draft press releases, advisories, & talking points.
- Coordinate media outreach & conduct tours.
- Monitor media coverage & prepare reports.
- Advise leadership on communication matters.
- Develop & implement social media strategies.
- Build relationships with key media outlets.
- Stay current on media trends.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Communications, Journalism, or related field.
- 5 years of strategic/tactical/media communication experience.
- Excellent written & oral communication skills.
- Strong analytical & problem-solving skills.
- Research & information gathering skills.
- Project management & organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently & as part of a team.
- Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
- Social Media Platforms (Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Instagram)
- Media Monitoring and Analysis Tools (e.g., Cision, Meltwater)
- Content Management Systems (CMS)
- Graphic Design Software (e.g., Adobe Creative Suite) (Preferred)

Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working with the Department of Defense or other government agencies.
- Knowledge of military operations and culture.
- Experience with crisis communication.
