Job Description Overview

BlueWater Federal is looking for a Multilingual Content Specialist to support FEMA. As a Multilingual Content Specialist, you will conduct multilingual content review using FEMA language access guidelines, identify customer-focused improvements to navigating FEMA’s websites in other languages, and support routine uploading of multilingual web content. This position is 100% remote.

FEMA requires additional digital communication services to implement user-friendly and accessible updates to FEMA.gov and the FEMA App that improve the customer experience (CX) and ensure clear communication about agency initiatives being rolled out in 2024.

Responsibilities

  1. Support procedures related to the management of translated content on OEA external websites.
  2. Identify areas of improvement and draft new procedures as needed.
  3. Provide project management and content development services to support web content and web improvements for agency campaigns and rollouts throughout the year, in coordination with OEA web team and Public Affairs communication advisors.
  4. Support FEMA.gov and Ready.gov content updating throughout the year by assisting the FEMA web team in handling update requests to website content, utilizing a shared tool for tracking ongoing tickets for web content changes, and providing project management as needed to push forward complex content changes.
  5. Advance FEMA.gov and Ready.gov customer experience initiatives by applying human-centered design practices to projects that result in website improvements throughout the year, as identified and prioritized by the FEMA web team.

Qualifications

  1. Bachelor’s degree in Translation, Linguistics, Communications, or a related field. Equivalent work experience may be considered.
  2. 7 years of experience.
  3. Must have or be eligible for a High-risk Public Trust; US Citizenship required.
  4. Fluency in English and proficiency in at least one additional language (Spanish preferred).
  5. The ability to understand and translate content across multiple languages is highly desirable.
  6. Drupal Translation Experience: Proven experience with Drupal’s multilingual capabilities and translation management. Ability to configure and manage translation workflows within Drupal to ensure timely updates across multiple language versions.
  7. Content Management Processes: Expertise in developing and managing systems and processes for translating and updating content. Ability to ensure that changes in English content are promptly reflected across all supported languages.
  8. Localization and Cultural Sensitivity: Understanding of localization practices, cultural nuances, and the ability to adapt content appropriately for diverse audiences.
  9. Editorial and Proofreading Skills: Strong editing and proofreading skills in multiple languages, with attention to detail to maintain consistency and accuracy across translations.
