Basic Function and Responsibilities:
The Marketing Content Manager develops and executes strategic storytelling and social media content that engages Oakton College's target audiences. The Marketing Content Manager is a content creator, social media strategist and project manager. A valued and involved member of the Oakton community, the Marketing Content Manager seeks out stories and collaborates regularly with students, faculty and staff to amplify the Oakton College brand. Additionally, they lead the student brand ambassador program, providing oversight and mentorship for students representing Oakton's brand on various platforms.
Characteristic Duties and Responsibilities:
* Collaborate with Senior Manager of Content Marketing to implement a content strategy, marketing campaigns and projects to enhance Oakton's brand awareness and support enrollment growth.
* Source, identify and evaluate content ideas that align with the College's mission, vision, values and strategic priorities. Develop and manage engaging content for various channels (print, social media, website, video, email, etc.) in collaboration with the design, digital and communications teams.
* Support and promote the consistent use of Oakton's editorial and brand identity. Work with the Senior Manager of Content Marketing to make updates as needed.
* Act as a trusted partner to campus stakeholders, working closely to create content that supports their goals while maintaining Oakton's brand standards.
* Serve as a project manager for key marketing initiatives and campus stakeholders, ensuring projects are completed on time and within scope. Consult and provide the team with expert knowledge in current and new media formats and channels, especially digital, that advance Oakton's brand position and enrollment goals.
* In collaboration with the creative and design team, lead the production of both video and photo projects (such as student interviews, promotional videos, event highlights, etc.) in alignment with the College's Inclusive Storytelling Guidelines.
* Lead the college's social media strategy, content calendar, and daily management across platforms. Use data to optimize performance and improve engagement and reach, with an emphasis on short-form video.
* Analyze data to determine campaign and social media effectiveness and provide recommendations. Consistently review and present results to team and clients. Responsible for tracking and reporting on all applicable media.
* Monitor social media channels for trends and engagement opportunities. Make recommendations for new tools and platforms.
* Achieve high-quality results on strict deadlines, interpret stakeholder needs and handle multiple assignments simultaneously. Able to look across the institution and make thoughtful recommendations about what content goes where and when.
* Use a project management system to manage project status, manage priorities and coordinate with cross-functional teams.
* Develop and manage a student brand ambassador program, recruiting and mentoring students to represent Oakton College on social media and other channels.
* Provide training and guidance to student ambassadors on effective storytelling and brand representation, ensuring consistency in messaging.
* Perform job related duties as assigned.
Requirements:
Qualifications and Working Conditions:
* Bachelor's degree required. Major in Marketing, Communications, Journalism, English or related field, or an equivalent combination of training and experience from which comparable knowledge and abilities can be acquired is preferred.
* Four (4) years of project management experience in a marketing and communications environment.
* Enthusiastic, curious storyteller who takes initiative and collaborates well in a team environment.
* Proven ability to create compelling content for various digital channels.
* Video and photography experience preferred.
* Experience with design tools (such as Adobe Creative Suite, Canva, video editing software, etc.) preferred.
* Two (2) years' experience in social media management required.
* Knowledge of social media analytics and digital marketing trends.
* Ability to work with a diverse group of faculty, staff and students.
* Strong project management skills. Experience using project management tools preferred.
* Experience leading and/or training other content creators preferred (i.e. leading a production team, editing writers, managing freelancers or working with social media influencers).
Physical Demands:
Light lifting to 10 lbs. and light carrying up to 10 lbs. Ability to reach above the shoulder. Periods spent sitting, standing, walking, kneeling, bending, and stooping. Mobility to move from building to building on campus and to visit off-campus entities. Work is performed in a general office environment and is sedentary. Little or no exposure to adverse working conditions.

Supervision Received:
Administrative supervision is received from the Director of Marketing. Functional supervision is received from the Senior Manager of Content Marketing.
Supervision Exercised:
Student volunteers and student workers in the student brand ambassadors' program. Supervision of freelancers as needed.
Hours: Monday - Friday 8:15 am - 5:00 pm
SALARY: 65,317 (Please note the salary will be $67,440 as of January 1, 2025)
