Job Title: Systems Designer Job Description The Systems Design Engineer will work under the direction of the Lead Project Engineer and Project Manager and is responsible for developing conveyor system layouts. The Systems Design Engineer will develop and maintain a working knowledge of customer standards as well as equipment and application requirements and will apply these in the course of their design work and mechanical installation drawings and details. This role involves applying engineering theory and principles to problems of industrial layout and design, interpreting engineering sketches, specifications, or drawings, and researching/reviewing customer specifications to ensure compliance. Responsibilities Develop conveyor system layouts and mechanical installation drawings. Apply engineering theory and principles to industrial layout and design problems. Interpret engineering sketches, specifications, or drawings. Research and review customer specifications to understand requirements and ensure compliance. Collaborate with project team members and customers to ensure project requirements are met. Work with Project Engineer to establish an engineering design plan and schedule for the project. Ensure design compliance with company and customer standards. Research and review available as-built drawings. Travel to customer facilities to conduct site surveys and document as-built conditions. Utilize AutoCAD and/or Inventor software to create and edit material handling system designs. Develop general arrangement drawings (high-level equipment layouts). Produce mechanical installation detail drawings, including plan views, elevations, cross-sections, and bills of materials. Specify components and materials required as per the design. Prepare specifications, designs, or sketches for machines, components, or materials as required. Check drawings and provide feedback to the design team. Make drawing corrections/revisions as needed to meet project requirements. Report on drawing status regularly, maintaining the project schedule. Prepare drawing packages and transmittals for customer reviews. Essential Skills Proficiency in AutoCAD and/or Inventor CAD software. Minimum 5 years' experience in mechanical conveyor/installation design. Associates Degree or higher in Computer Drafting and Design or similar technical program. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience with conveyor systems layout design. Looking for at least 4+ years in the industry Work Environment Office environment with team sitting in two different offices. Standard working hours are 8 AM to 5 PM with some overtime when required. Business casual attire is expected.
