About the Role:
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Plastic Part, Fixture, and Mold Engineering Changes professional to join our team! The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of plastic injection molding processes, tooling design, and engineering change management. You will be responsible for leading and executing the design of fixtures for manufacturing, engineering changes to plastic parts, fixtures, and molds to improve product quality, reduce costs, and enhance manufacturing efficiency.
Responsibilities Also Include:
Engineering Change Orders (ECOs):
- Review and analyze ECOs to assess the impact on part design, tooling, and manufacturing processes.
- Develop and implement effective change management strategies to minimize disruptions and ensure timely execution.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including design engineering, manufacturing, and quality assurance, to coordinate ECO implementation.
- Utilize CAD software (e.g., Catia, Unigraphics,) to design and modify plastic parts, considering factors such as material selection, dimensional tolerances, and manufacturability.
- Fixture Design and Modification:
- Design and modify fixtures for various manufacturing processes, including assembly, inspection, and testing.
- Ensure fixture designs are robust, efficient, and meet safety standards.
- Collaborate with manufacturing personnel to optimize fixture usage and maintenance.
- Modify mold designs to address issues related to part quality, cycle time, and tool life.
- Work closely with mold makers to ensure accurate implementation of design changes.
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Plastics Engineering, or applicable documented experience.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in plastic part design, fixture design, and mold engineering.
- Proficiency in CAD software (Catia, Unigraphics, etc.)
- Strong understanding of plastic injection molding processes, materials, and tooling.
- Experience with engineering change management and ECO processes.
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
