Job Summary
The Faculty Awards Specialist provides leadership, high-level writing duties, and operational influence for external award nomination processes and is a critical member of an administrative team that supports the College of Engineering's Office of Academic Affairs (OAA). This role enables faculty members to receive prestigious national and international recognitions for their achievements in research, teaching, and service. Works independently and as part of a team across the College of Engineering to identify requirements from award granting organizations. Collaborates with colleagues to develop and implement faculty award nomination processes. Coordinates, edits, and oversees writing and compilation of faculty award nomination packages for prestigious awards and recognitions and plays a key role in facilitating faculty success and advancing the national and international profile of the College of Engineering.

Job Summary

What You'll Be Doing:
- Collect, review, and independently draft, edit, and revise nomination materials such as letters of support, bibliographies of publications, curriculum vitae, etc.
- Write and edit technical and non-technical sections of award nomination packages, adhering to all required deadlines from awarding entities.
- Ensure submission of prestigious faculty award nominations on time.
- Coordinate external award nomination committee meetings.
- Establish timeline for award nomination packages.
- Communicate with faculty award nomination committee members to ensure that all components are complete.
- Develop and implement faculty award nomination procedures.
- Collaborate with the College of Engineering leadership and faculty members to develop plans for faculty external recognitions.
- Work with faculty to identify potential award nominees.
- Create and oversee internal communication plan regarding faculty award nominations.
- Collaborate with the College of Engineering leadership to ensure transparency and timeliness of nomination procedures.
- Maintain regular communication with external granting organizations to keep abreast of changes and ensure compliance with nomination and application procedures.
- Research and communicate new opportunities for faculty awards.
- Develop and implement evaluation plan for this program.
- Analyze internal processes and implement improvements and controls.
- Develop process documentation to streamline iterative processes.
- Train administrative staff in the schools for them to coordinate school-led faculty nominations for external awards.

What We're Looking For:
Education and Experience
Qualified candidates will need:
- Bachelor's degree in English, communications, science, engineering, or related field
- Three (3) years of general writing experience including grant-writing experience and relevant associated skills and/or a strong portfolio of writing and editing for both scientific and lay audiences required.
- Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered.
Skills needed:
- Ability to express ideas clearly and effectively both orally in and in writing.
- Demonstrated ability to write and edit for both scientific and lay audiences.
- Ability to communicate effectively with diverse populations, including faculty, staff, and administrators, as well as external constituencies.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Ability to meet multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Nice to have:
- Four (4) or more years of experience.
- Experience in science/engineering/technology fields.
