Law Librarian – Burlington, Vermont
LHH Recruitment Solutions is seeking an experienced Law Librarian. The ideal Candidate will have at least 5 years of law library experience working in a prior role and handling management of all of the libraries physical and electronic books, databases, legal research (LexisNexis, Westlaw), legal writing, managing CLEs (Continuing Legal Education), risk management and conflicts matters. This candidate will be responsible for the supervision of other legal support staff and law library management. The candidate should feel comfortable relaying messages between various groups and keeping all documents important to the cases they are working on organized.
Responsibilities
• Legal Research and Information Retrieval while assisting attorneys, paralegals, and other legal staff in conducting legal research, utilizing print and electronic resources
• Manage and maintain the law library’s physical and digital collections, including legal texts, journals, databases, and other resources
• Review, catalog, and organize new acquisitions to ensure resources are current and relevant to the firm or organization’s needs
• Regularly evaluate the collection for accuracy, relevancy, and completeness, ensuring compliance with current legal standards and emerging areas of law
• Provide reference services for legal professionals, guiding them in navigating legal resources and ensuring they find pertinent and reliable materials
• Oversee subscriptions and licenses for digital legal databases and ensure that access is maintained for all team members
• Help organize and manage legal documents, case files, and other legal research materials for easy retrieval and future use
• Conduct ongoing training sessions for law firm staff or students (in academic settings) on legal research techniques, resources, and tools
• Maintain the law library’s budget, track expenses, and handle purchasing of new resources or subscriptions
• Provide high-quality service to library users, answering inquiries, assisting with research needs, and ensuring a positive experience for internal clients
Qualifications
• At least 5 years of Law Librarian experience
• Prior experience working in a role as a Law Librarian, Paralegal, Associate Attorney
• Bachelor's degree or commensurate experience
• Excellent Written and Oral skills and must be an effective communicator
• Knowledge of standard MS Office Suite and Legal Research Search Engines
