Position Purpose: Provides library and technical support for the building level instructional resource needs of students and staff.
Responsibilities:
- Communicate and cooperate with colleagues, supervisors, students, and parents. Maintains a positive attitude
- Perform such other duties as may be assigned by the Library Media Specialist or Building Principal
- Participate in District Emergency Plans as needed at the building level
- Shelve materials into the collection in a timely manner (daily)
- Check resources in and out using electronic circulation software
- Manage overdue items and interlibrary loans (ILL)
- Collect fine money under the supervision of the Library Media Specialist
- Process library materials, including book jacketing, adding spine labels, stamping, and adding date due slips
- Repair damaged books when appropriate
- Supervise/assist students and staff while in the library. Assist students and staff to locate and use resources
- Manage the inventory of resources in the school, including lost or damaged items
- Collaboratively plan with Library Media Specialist to create displays to promote library resources and services
- Support the Library Media Specialist in his/her effort to teach students information literacy
- Inventory library supplies and make recommendations to Library Media Specialist with regards to ordering needs
- Participate in all mandatory training or training appropriate to the position as required by the district
Technology & AV Responsibilities:
- Provide primary technical support of AV and peripheral devices for instructional building staff. Examples:
- Maintain digital recording equipment for instructional use (cameras, camcorders, DVD drives, etc.)
- Change projector bulbs
- Adjust, align, and clean projectors
- Coordinate with custodial staff to install projectors when necessary
- Demonstrate connectivity and use of AV equipment for staff
- Assist with connectivity issues and AV ports at the point of need
- Maintain computer labs & student devices as appropriate. Examples:
- Manage scheduling for lab
- Clean screens, wipes keyboards, dust machines
- Wash laptop bags
- Collaborate with DIR and IT Department to provide technical support. Examples:
- Provides basic AV & IT troubleshooting support to teachers and students (student PLDs, teacher laptops, printers, cords, connectivity, projectors, SMARTboards, AppleTV, Avervisions, Redcats)
- Refers significant problems to Problem Report Database for follow up by IT Help Desk
- Maintain up-to-date technical knowledge of district-adopted tools and resources (IRLA meetings, Tech Camp, Teach2Learn Classes) and apply knowledge at work as changes and adoptions occur
- Make recommendations to Library Media Specialist for upgrades and replacements of AV and peripheral devices
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Minimum two year technical degree or related experience.
Prefered Qualificatications:
- Experience with computers and AV devices, computer and AV operations, connecting computer and AV peripherals, computer software applications, online resources, and general electronic troubleshooting is essential.
- Experience in libraries and basic knowledge of library operations.
