This position is for the full academic year and open only to upperclassmen students. Freshmen are not eligible for this position.
Expected hours of work per week: 10-20
Work Location & Hours: Kresge Library; Mon-Thu Fri 7:30 am - midnight; Fri 7:30am- 5:30pm; Sat 11 am-6pm
Expectations for work hours: It is expected that you will be hired to work a specific number of hours per week, as low as 10 and no higher than 20. The number will be decided at the time the student is interviewed and hired. We will begin on the first day of classes and work through the end of exams. Exam week schedule will be adjusted to accommodate your exams, and the number of hours that week will be lower.

Job for a Circulation Assistant is two-fold, assignments at the desk and assignments on the floor.
Desk jobs:
- Checks items out to a patron
- Checks items back in
- Place holds on books
- Places recalls on books
- Answer phone and direct questions to the appropriate staff member
- Answers general questions concerning the library and college for visitors
- Good understanding of the library's catalog so can answer questions and locate books that are in our collection
- Keep the reserve collection in good order
- Good working relationship with peers and also the professional library staff
- Reshelf books accurately
- Read specific areas of our collection to ensure books in correct order
- Keep library neat and tidy - straightening tables, shelves, collecting trash
- Able to handle any questions concerning the copier
- Able to close up the building at the end of each day and ensuring that everything is in order for next work day
- Responsible for evacuating the building in case of fire if no professional staff present
- Responsible for getting students to a safe place in case of a weather related emergency.
