Our agency’s mission is to enhance the quality of life and health for Philadelphians through community-based and culturally competent interventions. Since 1989, we have addressed health concerns, workforce development, and life skills in low-income, underserved communities. Today, our mission has expanded to help youth and young adults learn job readiness skills, academic achievement, and experience using technology. Position Summary The Social Media Specialist will play a key role in executing the nonprofit organization’s digital communications strategy by managing and growing our presence on social media platforms. This individual will ensure that content aligns with the organization’s mission, develop strategies to increase brand awareness, and amplifies our campaigns to raise awareness, funds, and community engagement. The Social Media Specialist will create, curate, and manage content across the organization’s social media platforms. This individual will and support key marketing initiatives by leveraging social media best practices. Key Responsibilities Social Media Management Manage day-to-day operations of all social media channels (e.g., Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, LinkedIn, TikTok, YouTube). Schedule and publish posts using social media management tools like Hootsuite, Buffer, or similar platforms. Ensure all content aligns with the organization’s voice, tone, and branding guidelines. Content Creation Design and create engaging social media content, including text, images, graphics, and short videos, using tools like Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, or similar software. Write compelling captions and hashtags that resonate with target audiences. Collaborate with photographers, and other team members for specialized content. Community Engagement Monitor social media activity, respond to comments and direct messages, and engage with followers to build relationships. Manage and resolve online inquiries or complaints in a professional manner. Build relationships with online communities to foster support for the nonprofit’s mission. Analytics and Reporting Track social media metrics (engagement, reach, impressions, follower growth) and prepare regular reports to evaluate the effectiveness of campaigns. Use insights to adjust strategies and optimize future content. Trend Monitoring Stay updated with the latest social media trends, platform updates, and emerging tools. Propose and test new ideas to keep the brand’s presence fresh and engaging. Campaign Support Assist in planning and executing social media campaigns for fundraising events, advocacy efforts, and awareness initiatives. Qualifications Education: Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Public Relations, or a related field. Experience: 2+ years of experience managing social media platforms, preferably in a in a nonprofit or mission-driven organization. Proven experience creating and executing social media campaigns. Skills: Proficiency in social media management tools (e.g., Hootsuite, Buffer, Later). Strong writing and storytelling skills, with the ability to craft compelling posts. Basic graphic design and video editing skills. Familiarity with social media analytics tools (e.g., Meta Business Suite, Google Analytics) and social media advertising platforms (e.g., Meta Ads Manager, LinkedIn Ads). Personal Attributes Passion for the nonprofit’s mission and values. Creativity and a strong eye for detail. Ability to work both independently and collaboratively. Strong organizational and time-management skills. Flexibility to adapt to shifting priorities and work occasional evenings or weekends during campaigns/events. Preferred Skills (Not Required) Experience with email marketing platforms (e.g., Mailchimp, Constant Contact). Knowledge of Search Engine Optimization (SEO) and content optimization for digital platforms.
